So I am a resident of Maine and as you all know Maine will allow all residents to conceal carry provided they have no criminal background.
I am still considering getting a concealed carry permit but does anyone know what states would allow me to carry with a Maine permit?
Does anyone know the policies of various countries and their policies? Jamaica, Haiti, UK, Iceland, Canada etc?
I travel often so I was wondering If a concealed carry is worth it.

I just renewed my Utah permit $15.75, no not a typo fifteen dollars and seventy five cents, I was suspicious at first "wheres the catch" but that was the fee who knew.LOL

I haven't really looked into getting the Utah non-res permit but I always hear/ see folks talking about it. There's like a shit ton of other states that will honor a Utah non-res permit isn't there? That's the whole idea I guess.

I just realized by looking at that map it looks like Rhode Island Honors the Utah permit, am I reading that right?

Dean

PS: 45 Collector it is worth it, it is good for 30 plus states.

Reciprocity for ME resident permit is limited today, but if [thread=275359]Maine bill L.D. 652[/thread] passes, the permit becomes optional but perhaps more attractive for residents who travel within the US, as several additional states are likely to recognize the ME CHL once Maine "accepts" all other state permits (as a side-effect of constitutional carry).

Rhode Island has NO reciprocity with any US state, and also makes it difficult to get a non-resident permit.

Don't even go there.

Utah, Florida and Virginia Non-Resident permits are widely accepted with a great deal of overlap. Reciprocity agreements tend to change slightly from year to year, so a state might be added or dropped from one or another in a given year. If you're planning on using the permit while traveling, check the latest laws to make sure you're legal in the states you're traveling in.

Dean - you are NOT reading that correctly. RI is just as bad as CT, it doesn't honor anybody else's. Only difference I can see is that CT does make it possible for non-residents to get CT permits while RI makes it very difficult for non-residents to get permits.

Do i have to have my mass license for X amount of time, before considering a utah or Arizona?

I don't know about Arizona.

Length of possession is not a requirement for Utah Non-Resident; but you will need to take a Utah specific course.
Feed this phrase into Google "utah non-resident gun permit for mass resident", and start reading...

I took a course at my gun club. After that it was pretty straight-forward. Paperwork, photograph, check.

shpuld also add that the Utah class will provide fingerprints.

Go where? Haiti? Jamaica? or the UK? surely you are not talking about iceland. For the record i am in Jamaica in Haiti all of the time. And was recently in the UK and iceland a few months ago. I am aware of how anti gun the UK is.

Don't even start asking about any nation in the world having reciprocity for a state-issued carry license from the USA. Never going to happen. None of the countries you list have ANY provisions for non-resident civilian carry.

Yes you can bring firearms to Haiti with written permission from the police. I am from Cap Haitien Haiti.
I was just wondering if concealed carry allowed and provision in such territory.
So yes you can travel to Haiti with guns there are many people I know from other parts of the world like Russia, US, ect who have firearms and live in Haiti.
And yes Jamaica you can if permission has been obtained from the government.
i was wondering if having a concealed carry helps put people in better standing.
Your talking to someone who grew up in the west indies.
Iceland and the UK I am not sure but the UK is anti gun to the T so i would not try.

I think if you have a Utah, Florida and a Maine license, that is the max reciprocity you can get.

Dean

I've got my CT Resident, then Utah, Florida, Virginia, Maine and New Hampshire non-resident permits.

Taking Mass class this summer. Still haven't figured out how to get a RI non-resident permit and really don't want to answer affirmatively to "have you ever been denied?"

The difference is, in many countries where you have to get permission from the government, they say no. The UK is a tricky one. Scotland, England and I think Wales prohibit ownership of handguns, and make hunting rifles extremely hard to own. Northern Ireland, you can own handguns and get a carry permit, but its harder than getting one pre-Heller in DC.

I'd have to go out into international waters, dock in NC, then I can travel the country. Screw this, 'just passing through' stuff.

Why would anyone want to go yo Haiti, ohh eccept that scum ex president Clinton to make a bunch of $. And Sean Penn just to be himself.

Maybe because some people have family that lives there and they want to visit them or help them from time to time? Maybe because some people own business in Haiti, maybe because people who are medical specialists want to donate their time to help the sick, poor and children who have no options with NGO and mission groups? Maybe because they found a hide away and built a house like a Canadian I know who owns villas in a peaceful village you can only get to by boat. Maybe because they are under contract and found work there and maybe because some People are Haitian. Maybe thats where they are and ended up for various reasons. Is this a serious question?
