Someone brought a really sweet target to the range I belong to, and I'm trying to figure out what it is or where I can get something similar. Upon seeing it, I went and looked closer at it. It looks like the top of some kind of compressed air container that's been modified to hang. I thought scuba tank at first, but it's CRAZY thick (3/4"+), and it's steel (I think scuba tanks are usually made from aluminum?). I shot it once and went to inspect for damage, and seeing no deformation, I tried a few more. Shot a good deal of 9mm & 45 at it before I was done, and it shrugged it all off without divots of any kind. Now the sad part is, a day later I returned and of course someone decided to shoot something stupid at it, so now it's got nice scoops in it.
Now, the question is, what on earth is this thing? Also, I thought that I had seen an AR500 target in the shape of an open ended, hollow cube for sale somewhere that would probably sound and act pretty similarly. Am I crazy or has someone else seen something like that?
