[FONT=&]There was an incident July 3rd on the pistol range that could have been tragic. Fortunately the member hurt had minor injuries. This was no thanks to the member that seemed incapable of remembering the simple basics of firearms safety.
I will try to keep this simple not for the good Safe members who use the ranges every day but the damn fools who do not seem to have a clue.
1. Each firearm has a skinny round thing called a barrel sticking out the front. At the business end is a round hole called a muzzle. Bullets come out of that hole when the trigger is pulled. The muzzle thing is supposed to be pointed in a safe direction at all times. It is not supposed to be waving all over the place endangering other members. Failure to point the muzzle in a safe direction at all times is dangerous to all around you. It is also insulting to and creates a bad image for the safe responsible shooters that share the range each day.
2. On the end of you hand there is a thing called a finger. You know that thing you were scratching your ear with while everyone else was paying attention to safety instructions. That finger has no business touching a trigger until your sights are lined up and on the target you intend to shoot.
3. Combine the two and you are no longer a sportsman or woman representing us all in a good light to the general public. You become a danger to yourself and others. You also become a poster child to those that want to end our participation in the shooting sports.
I would like to express my appreciation to all of those shooters that use our ranges each day in a safe manner, respectful and considerate of their fellow shooters.
Reminder: Muzzle in a safe direction---Finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire.
