OK, so we've had the "safe queen" thread, and I can only assume that many of these are kept because of sentiment or value, so that begs the next question:

What gun in your collection are you most likely to sell, and what gun are you least likely to sell... and why?

I'll start it off.

If I needed $$, my CZ-75 would probably be the first up on the block, as I just don't shoot it that often. (No, Darius, it's not for sale now - I said "If I needed $$"!)

But I will never sell my Ruger P90 .45, because it just fits me so darn well... it's like an extension of my hand. Although my Para P12 .45 is rapidly reaching that same status.. utterly reliable, and it fits me perfectly. Those are going to be left to someone, because I won't get rid of them while I'm alive.

Some of these you've seen, Ross.

Sellers:

Nagant Revolver
Helwan
VZ-24 Rifle
AR-15 Clone

Reasons: No attachment to any of them.

Keepers:

M1 Garand
M14
1911A1
1917 Colt
Confederate Rifle
M24 Finish Mosin Nagant

Reasons: All are private transfers, except the 1917 Colt. I like every one of these guns, and the Confederate gun is traveling through the family. I'm just the current keeper. I also built the 1911A1 myself. All have a collector value, except the M14, and it's an early FedOrd with almost all USGI parts. Besides, I LOVE the Garand and M14 for shooting.

I have only sold 2 of mine. My AR,which I only sold because Roxie (cocker) needed an expensive surgery. The other I sold was my SKS. I usually have to have a really good reason to sell.
Glenn is going to build me another AR, and some year I'll get an SKS again.

I have a K98k Russian capture that I'll likely sell, since I recently bought an original Gewehr 98.
Won't sell the US M1911 Colt made in 1917, or the Polish wz35 Radom, or the Finnish L-35 which happens to be SN 4701, the first pistol in the Type 3 range.
They are all fine shooters.

About the only "Might Sell" is the Les Baer Concept V 1911. Why? Because they are fairly rare in MA, and I can't bring myself to making the modifications to it that I want in a 1911. But in terms of value, it's probably a good source for $$ if I needed it.

However, that said, nothing I have is for sale. Period.

Most likely to Sell:
Ruger Old Army
1 or 2 ARs
Marlin 1894 .22 Mag

Keep:
Garands
1903
P99
Marlin 81D
Iver Johnson .38
1911-A1

Variety of reasons for both decisions.

Basically it is against my religion to sell my guns! [lol]

Minor exceptions made for "mistakes" . . . guns that I should never have bought in the first place!

Soon to be sold category (likely at the BR&P Swap Meet in October I think):

- Walther P22
- Kel-Tec Sub-2000 w/Glock mags

Just don't like them for various reasons.

Never/Least Likely to Sell:

- Luger - war trophy my late Father "liberated" from a German Major in WWII.
- CAR-15 pre-ban (unless I find something even better at some future date).
- 1911 (not again! Sold a almost new Series 70 to a MAF'r and have regretted it ever since Jim Crews educated me on why I couldn't shoot it - trigger was too long).
- K98 Russian Capture - bnz SS model - made by prisoners of a concentration camp for the German SS. Paid a stiff premium for this rifle and having lost most of my extended Families in the Holocaust, this rifle has special meaning to me.

Sell? Well if circumstances dictated I'd probably liquidate A few Ruger single actions and a varmint rifle or two. I would need to keep a 12 gauge Win. 1200 riot gun that my Ma gave me. A Garand, some 1903's and two of my S&W model 27's would stay. Oh yes, A CZ 452 and Colt Huntsman need to be added in.

Let's see...
One of my Yugo SKS and the MAS49/56 in 7.5 French. The Yugo is a leftover from the Serb conflict and the MAS I don't shoot. Although the MAS rifles have been out of circulation for over 3 years, money talks!

I am not certain but I think it was Lens who said "part with my AR, not for your life"

most likley to sell, My 9000s now that it works again.

I'm of the ones that are in the Don't sell anything. I've only got two guns up for sale because I need to replace the money that I took to fix my car.

But, if they don't sell soon, then I'm not going to sell them.

Other than that, I've only sold one gun, but it wasn't really a sale. It was a trade for another gun.

But for what I have in the safe now? I don't have anything that I would sell.

I have only sold 1 gun, My SW9VE. I kinda wish I kept it because it was my first gun. But then again if I did keep it, that would have been my safe queen. Not to get too off topic, and if somebody wants to start a Sigma sucks thread go right ahead, but damn what is that a 7 inch long 50 lb trigger.

Well, in the past, I've sold:

Mod 19 - BIG MISTAKE. And courtesy of our miserable AG I can't even buy it back.
Ruger Mark 1 Std - sold it to buy a Mark 1 Target. No problems here.
AMT Hardballer - Couldn't wait to see it leave. I hated that gun. Huge mistake BUYING it!
Colt .357 - see comment about Hardballer - big mistake in buying it; it was worn out and I didn't know enough to know that when I bought it.
Para P10 - swapped for the COP and an Airweight. Liked the gun, but it was making me flinch.
Charter Arms Undercover - going bye-bye this weekend. Nice gun, but I don't need 2 snubbies... and I can use the money to buy an SKS. Method to my madness. :)

So some of my guns will go away to upgrade my collection. But I'm pretty happy with what I have now, so I'll just have to pay cash for any new guns.

I think that Nickel's son in law would contribute to that thread... he had a jam-o-matic Sigma there this weekend.

Uh... a transplant from a COP .357? [twisted] [twisted] [twisted] [twisted]

He used to like it. Now, I've got to do some work on it and the ammo. It appears it's finicky, damn sure didn't like those loads with the Remington JHP's. I'll seat them a little deeper, then alter the feed ramp if that doesn't work. And his is a .40. I would advise him AGAINST selling it, though. He bought it privately (no paper trail, legal too).

Sell? SELL??!?!?! That word isn't in my vocabulary!!! However, if push really came to shove...MAYBE my .22 Remington rifle, but only if it was a choice of eating or starving to death.

I think you'll find it's a hypothetical question, Lynne.

I would sell several, but I could not be "attached" to them, and they'd have to go to "good homes". But then again, I just don't know exactly how many I have. I know I've got 2 or 3 beaters kicking around buried somewhere. They're nothing of value for sure.

My extractor had died on the Sigma after about 2 months, and that was a brand new gun. When I sent the gun to SW the service guy said in a sardcastic voice " problems with a Sigma, thats odd". I mean for under 3 bills, Brand new and MA Comp, you cant go wrong. Just hope ya don't mind sending it to Springfeild Ma every few months.

Don't worry, I'll get him to move up before awfully long. I see a Glock or SIG in his future possibly a (ugh) Ruger. He did like Ross's Ruger Semi. I just don't know what he'll think of the companies past personnel practices.

I never said those exact words, but basically that is my thoughts about having a CAR-15 (pre-ban). [lol]

I might upgrade the equipment to a different CAR-15, but I can't see myself without one, ever!

[lol] [lol] [lol] I have a rare LenS correction. [lol] [lol] [lol]

Stay FAR AWAY from Olympic Arms . . . junk!!!

Expect to pay ~$750-800 for Bushmaster.

I'd look at Rock River Arms, has an excellent reputation for quality, small mfr and good prices.

Colt is very pricey. Bushmaster, Armalite and Rock Rivers are all good choices. No-name brands are hit or miss with poor resale value.

Part with my ARs, NOT on your life! [lol]

Like me having a member of the Garand Family. Goota have an M1 or M14. Those two guns I won't give up. Both my current ones are private purchases.

Correcting me is not rare, just ask my Wife! [roll]

I do indeed stand corrected, and my sentiments haven't changed towards ownership of AR15s. I am not "married" to the 2 particular AR15s that I currently own, so I would sell them to buy a better AR15 if I felt I could upgrade and it made sense to me.

Guns I have sold and lived to regret:

Colt Cadet .22 -- Sold it to my mother in law, she got almost nothing for it when she traded it a couple months later.

S&W J-frame snubby -- When I sold it the gun had an amazing trigger job, and was quite fun to shoot. Sold it on a whim -- regretted it up until the happy day I bought it back

Colt AR-15, model SP-1 -- a gun that dated from the sixties, in decent shape -- I am embarassed to say how little I got for it. This sale damaged my friendship with the guy that brokered the deal, accepting an offer for hundreds of dollars less than the price I had agreed to sell it for. By the time I found out he had sold my gun, it was about one week too late. By then, the gun was out of state and in the hands of a buyer who got the sale of the century.

Guns I will never sell:

Sig 226 -- This was my first gun, ever. It has an amazing trigger job, laser grips, and will hit anything in sight. I love this gun!

Ruger 10/22 -- Over the years, I have customized just about everything on this gun. Heavy barrel, Hogue overmold stock, Volquartzen hammer, trigger, and extractor, tight little scope. In short, I have made it mine. It will always have a place in my armory.

M1 Garand -- I got this Springfield Armory, 1944 vintage Garand direct from the CMP many years ago. It now has a crisp Fulton Armory Clint McKee trigger, and is my little piece of WW II history. No sellin' this baby!

Guns I have sold and said good riddance to:

Nylon 66, the d'elegance, black and chrome model -- Like a cheap date, she looked real nice, but when it came to doing what she did best, she was an impossible B@tch. No regrets when I traded her away.

Another gun, the actual identity shall of it shall remain unnamed -- blew up when I accidentally created a reload that had a double charge. I sent the gun back to the factory for a new extractor, and a checkup, and sold the gun shortly thereafter. They fixed it for free. Even though it was not the fault of the gun, I just didn't feel the same about it after it went BOOM! Bye-bye

In my old age, I am much more cautious about parting with my guns. I am not saying I no longer sell, it is just that I try to do so more thoughtfully and deliberately.

One I don't think I will sell is my Norinco JW-15. Yah, its not the best but it IS my first gun I ever bought and had to pay with my own money so it holds sentimental valus.

Besides, something about a father passing on their first gun to their kid as their first gun that makes it worth it.

Also, a close second, my RRA. Just love that little thing to death.
