What gun have you wanted for a long time but just won't spend the money on?

I was in the Navy 1968 to 1972, 52 years ago and I know it was a 30.06 belt-feed with a tripod , what was it called M-???.
Sorry but you are mistaken. The M60 was never chambered for anything other than 7.62x51 NATO (308). The Navy converted M1919 machine guns from 30.06 to to 7.62 so maybe that is what you are thinking.

FN Five-seveN.

Almost bought one with 20 round mags when I moved here, but told myself I had no practical use for it.

I still have an itch for it.

They’re kinda cool, but the ammo is rare and quite pricey. It really only shines with the ammo that the feds won’t allow us Americans to have!!

It is easy shooting, ridiculously low recoil. But IMO, not worth the price for what you get….unless you had that sweet AP ammo. I’ll stick with 18 rounds of 9mm in a smaller package with more recoil….

There are better solutions to soft body armor issues….

I know I don’t need it. I have a number of Glocks suitable for carry, most in 9mm.

But…. Still got that “when i have extra cash …”

A Belt-feed 30.06 tripod M60 Machine Gun, Fired them in the Navy off the back of a DE {destroyer Escort}.
Must have been a ship outfitted during WW2 or Korea, by what you describe it would have to be a 1919. M60 was only in 7.62x51 and was not on a tripod. Would be plausible for a few 1919's to be still be around during the 60's. I know my dad was still shooting M1 garands and tommy guns on coast guard cutters in the 60's.

I've been eyeing one of these for a couple of years now, even though it has absolutely no practical application. But I figured that with an AWB likely coming to RI, it may be the last chance I have to pick one up; so today, I finally pulled the trigger. I pick it up tomorrow.

Love the 1858 Remington replicas but the 12" Buffalo seems kinda....wait a sec, there's one in the Classifieds. Never mind.

It does look cool, but I assume this is a modern replica. Heavy as hell, relatively expensive, not sure about RI but likely a 10 round magazines. You could buy a hi point in 9 10 or 45 for a third the price, much lighter, more accessories. But I no one to judge as I have a bazillion overpriced and impractical firearms!!!

For a quick minute there, I thought you were describing my Dodge Challenger Hellcat...up until you got to the 10 round magazine part (and yes, I got a 10 round stick and a 10 round drum magazine with it). And yes, to all of the other aforementioned attributes as well, but since I already have pretty much everything else I've wanted, and multiples of many of them, I figured why not get another cool, fun, impractical firearm that should be a blast to shoot.

Hard to narrow it down to just one....
Isn't it funny how you have a safe full of guns, and only shoot 3-4 on a regular basis?
I pull everything out once a year and clean and oil them. It's like a reunion. You are wiping down a gun and you can't even remember the last time you shot it, or better yet, forgot you even had it! LOL.

A safe? As in only one?!?

I would jump at the chance to buy a Beretta PX4 Compact Carry (cut for an optic), but they are off roster and I have only seen the full size versions come up in MA.

Bad choice. You could have used the gun to get a car.

I had a ''discussion'' with someone and they told me I should be buying food and not guns for the apocalypse , and I said ''I'll just come to your house and shoot you in the face and take your food''. He got all pissy after that.
