What did you do to your firearm today.

Finally finished fitting a new Harrison Design ejector in my Colt 9mm competition 1911. The nose snapped off of it while I was cleaning it just hours after shooting it at the last Fall Walls at Wallum Lake. Amazing. All those rounds and the gun functioned 100%, and then simply running a toothbrush over it snapped it off hours later! The Friday prior to Walls, I was shooting the gun in practice and the original fiber optic flew out of the front sight, so I put a fresh one in the Saturday before Walls.

Installed the full VQ competition upgrade in my Mark 4. Includes accurizing kit and bolt tune up. Trigger from 4+ lbs down to 1.5-2 with adjustable pre-travel and over travel. Ran 5 mags today and it’s amazing. Used to get some light primer strikes and also extraction issues. All gone.

I popped a Thug Plug in the mag well of my Glock 45 today. I’m going to order a beaver tail equivalent (competition 2-M thumb rest) for it now that the backstrap does not fit securely over the plug...darn you Glock Store you’ve got me coming back for more!

I gave my P320 another face lift. X-Carry chopped by Steady Grind Design to accept compact mags.

Took a hacksaw and file to the backstrap of my Glock so I wouldn’t have to give my first born’s lifesavings to the Glock store

That’s the “thug plug” secured in place. Adds a good amount of mass to the rear I kind of dig it already and I haven’t even taken it to the range yet.

What is the purpose of shortening it?

For some odd reason it wouldn’t fit over the Thug Plug. It could be secured back but would not be flush with the frame. The backstrap is meant to attach to the bottom of the magwell to make it secured firmly along the frame. However, the beavertail for Gen 1-Gen 3 models is only a small little piece of plastic with a 1911 style grip to protect from slide bite and also to help grip when drawing. So Glock ended up changing this for Gen 4-Gen 5 and they don’t design beavertail grips for most of those models. I have the beavertail grip for my Glock 30S but I was wanting one for my Glock 45 but the only thing similar is the Competition grip.
