Fat Boy Slim “Eat Sleep Rave Repeat” [Calvin Harris remix]
Earlier this evening my wife and I heard the Bee Gees 1968 song “I Started a Joke”. Neither of us had heard it more than a handful of times every and certainly not in the last forty years.
I had no use for their disco era stuff but have to respect the harmonies in their 60’s songs.
I found this fascinating video...
Bee Gees “I Sarted a Joke / First of May” (circa 1968)
Edit: I found a much better copy of the same performance and inserted it.
Talent they had for sure. They just decided to use that talent for evil.
And it made them wealthy beyond imagination. Who is the joke really on?
I have always liked this cover version.
bigpick should appreciate this.
Repost from a couple of years ago. I dug it out on a short road trip today.
George Winston. I found him in '96 after Vince Guaraldi passed away.
In 1996, Winston released Linus and Lucy – The Music of Vince Guaraldi, primarily devoted to the theme music Guaraldi wrote for the Peanuts cartoons: fifteen television specials and one feature film, ranging from 1965 until Guaraldi’s death in 1976. "I love his melodies and his chord progressions," Winston said of Guaraldi. "He has a really personal way of doing voicings.
I really like this album and start playing it after Thanksgiving each year.
I like to pair it with this album but couldn't find it.
Vince Guaraldi is always in the holiday rotation in our house. A very talented composer he was.
I do appreciate that, thanks for posting. Funny they made that video 8 months after the band broke.
I recall hearing that now that you mention it. I was a big fan of FNM back in the day, when the only music news came from Rolling Stone or the occasional rock station DJ.
