CONGRATS to Al Prescott and the rest of the Westford Pro2A crew!!
On Monday night, October 21, 2024, the lawful gun owners of Westford Massachusetts turnout in force to Town Meeting for the second time in a year, and blocked a anti-2A bylaw designed to make "Firearms Businesses" difficult if not impossible to open in our town. As Al Prescott, one of the founders of Westford Pro 2A, wrote in a subsequent local Op Ed regarding the need for such a bylaw:
"The lawful firearms owners of Westford are not persuaded. We have said so numerous times, and have been ignored every time. Why are we not persuaded? We do business with the businesses in Littleton, and have not experienced anything nefarious. We are told these businesses must be kept away from children for safety, yet the local sportsmen's clubs (where firearms are used often) host local cub scout packs. We have walked down the street where these businesses are located and have never felt endangered. Therefore, when asked to submit our "protected liberty" to conditions like a Special Permit, limits on locations, and setbacks, we have voted NO."
We are now waiting to see if the town, who broke state law and brought this proposal back in less than 2 years, will finally follow the law.
