I'm looking for a gunshop in western MA (Westfield area) to do a transfer on a S&W revolver. I'd like to do this on a fair flat rate, not they get a % of the sale price. I've never done a transfer into this state.
thanks

Personal Defense Specialist in South Hadley will do it for $25. Of course you have to find out when the son will open up next.

Yup. That's where I would have sent him but I wasn't sure how Joe was doing these days and I know his Son's been sort of hit or miss with when the shop's open. For the record, I agree with FPrice that PDS, in Hadley, is a fabulous place when open.

I would have went to DPS in South Hadley, but I'm having a real hard time reaching them (his son) since Joe became ill.

If you don't mind me asking, does it have to be an FFL transfer? You can do a FTF transfer between two MA licensed individuals if the seller has not done four FTF transfers this calendar year.

Thanks guys,

I'm still on the fence over the purchase. I'll make up my mind in a day or so. It's just that $300 to upgrade my carry peice is a serious bit of change, it is however to me the perfect carry weapon.

Out of curiousity can you tell us what it is?

I did it. The dealer wanted too much for me to make the trade. So I just bought it outright and did the transfer to Gun & Gun Parts in West Springfield (I live in Westfield). My new carry pistol is a "prelock" S & W model 342 (11oz hammerless J-fame). Thanks to you all.

Any idea how much Tim charges for a transfer?
i know the OP has already found a solution, but for the record, the last transfer i did with Tim was 20$ for a rifle. Micheal over at Guns & Gun Parts is a good guy as well. as are Walt and Ronnie at Agawam Auto/Taugwank Spur Corp.
