Can you imagine that after the Heller Decision violent crime in DC has decreased? Who'd a thunk?

Via the Washington Post.

The D.C. police department's aggressive gun recovery efforts and the office of the attorney general's coordinated emphasis on prosecuting gun-related crimes are showing strong results: In the past year, robberies with guns have decreased 12 percent; assaults with guns have decreased 14 percent; and overall violent crime has decreased by 5 percent in the District.

I suppose that it would be silly to think that the prospect of people being able to defend themselves in their homes might be a deterrent.

I personally do not believe that this has anything to do with gun ownership in DC. Sorry, but there are relatively very few people who have become new gunowners because of this. And it is way too soon for the Heller decision to have affected culture in DC enough to have any psychological effect on it's criminals.
