I was at the range today for a little practice with my PPK/s (.380) and shooting S&B factory ammo. after a few normal shots, I fired one that had a noticably bigger boom. The hammer got locked back (farther than the cocked position). Sadly I was done at that point. When I got home I had to remove the hammer spring plug to release the tension, then I had to remove the hammer pin, that allowed me to reset the hammer. I replaced the hammer pin and the hammer spring plug, put it all back together and it seems to be back to normal. Has anyone else ever seen this type of a failure? Also, would you fire it again or send it to S&W for a look?

I've owned 2 ppk/s for 40 years and never had that happen.

S&W's recall was for these numbers. but it wasn't for that reason. It was because the gun could fire when the hammer was lowered. They put in a new hammer block. If it's already been done they put in a punch dot in the tang below the hammer.
