Yes it's harder to get an ltc. But much easier to fake the actual card. It has no physical security images on it and would be quite simple to make a phony.

When I got the Read ID from the MA RMV, one of the acceptable forms of identification was a MA LTC

But you brought a bunch of other shit so in reality it was being used as a secondary form if ID. Hell the freaking letter they sent you was also allowed as a secondary form.

No. No. And no. I’m an adult who has never lost his wallet because I was taught to have personal responsibility. If my DL was missing so would my bank and credit card, 3 LTC’s, my HC cards, and a few other items of daily importance but not ID related.

Boss overruled her but I went looking and cannot find a location that legally approves a MA LTC as a valid ID. Bartender was forceful that the ABC denies a LTC. Anyone have a cite?

I bought the 3 guys a round as I was leaving.

The ABC does not "deny" an LTC but the barkeep is strictly liable if the person presenting it is under age. "It was a perfect forgery" or "It was legitimately issued but with the wrong birth year" is not a defense to an underage serving charge.

If the server relies on an inaccurate, or well forged "approved ID" like a MA DL or passport, that is a valid defense to an underage serving charge.

As to "LTC/FID harder to get". Maybe, but when my daughter got her FID at age 15 I was with her and the cop (who knew me) simply asked "What is your birth date?" and no other proof was required.

LTC is not valid for liquor ID in MA, it's treated as a professional license in the Commonwealth and not an official state ID.

Then we don't need it.

Different towns have different requirements. Mine requires a utility or tax bill. But not an excise tax bill, real estate only.

Yes, the vendor likely considered you low risk.or had no policy against it. most alcohol vendors won't touch that out of an abundance of caution.

As lame as CT is their regs for booze are probably less obnoxious. In MA you couldn't even buy booze on Sundays not all that many years ago!

Costco or BJ's, I forget which one enters your DOB for beer and wine. Some clerks just make one up or use their own but others do ask for it.

I arrived on a 5am flight, went home, had a nap, met the wife for lunch yesterday, and was carded. Didn't have my DL on me as it was still in my carry on backpack.

Had my MA LTC, PA LTC, Passport Card, NEXUS card, Global Entry Card though so it wasn't a huge deal.

I have a friend who has never driven a car so no license.
I know he has a MA state ID but thats never on him either.
He pays for his entire life with CC...honeslty I dont know how he does it.

1. Now you are beginning to understand in (in regards to your question)

2. The LTC id verification procedure varies by department. The fact that she has to produce that paperwork is not definitive that it is a universally applied standard across MA.

3. LTCs are far easier to forge than MA driving licensed.

Was flying out of Logan about 5 years ago TSA says your license is going to expire in less than 30 days. I was like OK thanks I knew my birthday was coming up got it.
TSA: Do you have another photo ID.
Me: why
TSA: Cause your license is going to expire in 30 days.
ME: it’s not a passport I am not leaving the country going to Philly for the day I will be back for dinner.
