The pinnacle of the free sh*t movement, UBI.

Schlosberg and Shaw are currently crowdfunding $50,000 on HandUp to pay for the first two people to receive UBI payments of $250 a week for two years. Eventually, they hope to raise at least $500,000 to pay for up to 20 UBI subjects. The plan is to follow the lives of a diverse group of people–artists, farmers, former factory workers, academics–and then to release the film during the 2020 presidential campaign (that being the time when Americans are most receptive to big ideas both brilliant and crazy-stupid).

It's funny. The same people for a UBI are the same ones that have 10's (if not 100's) of thousands of dollars of college debt created by the same stupid mentality 30 years ago.

It's like walking around wearing a US Army uniform in Nazi Germany. Some soldier in gray comes out, starts shooting at you!

"Holy F!" So you run. And bump into some guy in a black uniform.

GO FREAKING FIGURE! HE starts shooting too!!!

Ergo, you keep running and bump into some guy in a tan uniform. He slices your head off.

At some point, you should figure out that German Military will try to kill you, not Gray or Black or Tan guys like in a stupid video game!

What is worse is the MSM is AOK with these people stepping on their d-words over and over and never calling them on it. IT's the Wile E Coyote School of Problem Solving from stem to stern.

UBI is another stepping stone to implementing socialism in this country. Everybody will be forced by law to be on it, and the producers will be forced to foot the bill. Incentive to work will sharply decrease, because, hey, why work when the all-benevolent .gov will just cut you a check every week for doing nothing? People who make over a certain amount won't get the benefit, but will be taxed so much or forced to pay a penalty fee (individual mandate) that it would be wiser to take the check rather than work. Taxes will rise to keep up with feeding the program, workforce shrinks, economy tanks. Our fearless public officials declare that private industry has sunk, and therefore will be bailed out then taken over by federal authorities. Next up, "re-education" camps..

UBI, without strict price controls becomes rampant inflation.

UBI WITH strict price controls becomes Venezuela or Cooba. No food on the shelves, craphole living conditions, a loss of the will to work.

How sensible people don't shut this stupidity down with a massive B-slap is beyond me. Even someone as cluelessly socialist as Obama realizes the folly of this. Gahhh!!!!!

Help I'm steppin' into the twilight zone
When my kids were little they learned quickly that if a pack of gum cost $1 and they didn't have $1 then they couldn't buy the gum.

America is in monumental debt. America literally doesn't have a dollar. America should not be buying a pack of gum let alone paying dipshits for doing nothing. We already are and we need to stop, not do more of it.

We may as well be putting gasoline in fire extinguishers and expecting them to be effective for putting out fires.

The great idea is to use UBI to replace food stamps, disability, etc. Basically have UBI to replace all other handouts.

The problem is that the population that you want to manage will spend their UBI on crap - booze, drugs, latest iPhone, etc and then will show up in the emergency room because they have not eaten for 3 days.

They already do that with food stamps because they are allowed to buy just about anything with them. There is also a black market for food stamp/ebt cards, at least that's what I've heard (maybe that's just a rumor?).

Bottom line is the oxygen thieves will always find a way to f things up for everyone so we need to stop letting them by stopping the funding of them.

Hoping they get crowd-ignored. LOL

As far as US debt, it's $15T in debt tied to US Households. The value of US Household assets is something like $60T. I was very surprised at that.

I concur that we have a debt issue, but our debt issue at the household level is far better than it was a decade ago. It's our FEDERAL debt problem that's a problem. 'Bama did zip to help. Kept the Fed buying fairy-bonds and didn't work hard (read: at all) to spur job growth that would have pushed GDP to a high enough # to make the debt load seem small in comparison. But he runs around taking credit for any good thing that happened in 8 years. (How the flip does he take credit for jobs when he was the moron who said, "I guess those shovel-ready jobs weren't that shovel-ready"???? No, you Chicago Drug Lord-acting mope. YOU DIDN'T DO ANY WORK! You talked and then sat on your dumb ass. Gahhh!!!!)

No worries. I am absolutely sure that they will make a fair and honest appraisal of the effects of free money on people. Well, free to them at least.

This would never happen with our government. The FSA would riot and loot if their food stamps, section 8, "disability benefits," were taken away, even if to be replaced by UBI. If/when they implement UBI here in the US it will be in addition to all the above.

I don't see that happening. If it does then that's the end of America and it won't be a peaceful end.
