I have a question. Name brand ammo is name brand ammo right? I was at a local gun store, and I had said I could get tactical 223 ae ammo cheaper there. And the guy said walmart ammo was junk and told me about a glock they have that the frame is broke from using ammo from walmart. I just find it hard to believe a major brand ammo company would sell lesser ammo walmart and hurt there rep. Is there any feed back on this?

I think most of it is all the same stuff, frankly. EG- WWB from walmart is the same as WWB from everywhere else, it just costs less. Same with most of the rest of the ammo they sell.
If I was going to make a WAG the shop was just trying to get you to buy their ammo instead.

I wouldn't be surprised if walmart has the junk ammo. As an example -- A family friend who worked at Home Depot warned me once about purchasing appliances there. He said the box and exterior looks the same as what you might purchase at an appliance store, but the guts are not the same at home depot as they are at the appliance store. You get what you pay for, and when it comes to ammo, and ammo going in my tools -- there is no room for cheap ammo. Like that crap wolf ammo makes... lots of folks swear by it, but most of them are cheap and don't have anything better to do but clean guns after that crap is shot through them.
How did the ammo break the glocks frame?
yeah it looks the same but my plain old WWB ammo costs $5/box more and comes with my unconditional guarantee it won't blow up your gun.

smells like BS to me. i've shot i don't know how many thousands of rounds from walmart and never once did i have any issues with the ammo. name the shop, if they will BS their customers about something simple like ammo it makes you wonder what else they'll lie to your face about, doesn't it?

Exactly. If you could actually attribute the KB to some manufacturing defect in the ammo the manufacturer would go broke fixing guns &/or giving out free "No-Blow" ammo to replace the WallyWorld crap. Definite BS.

I've run thousands of rounds bought at wally world. Other than Remington .22 (suck) no problem. I did have 5 rounds in a box of 50 at four seasons that were not primed.
I have had zero issues with ammo bought at walmart to. Just wanted to find out is there was some one in a million super secret issue with walmart bought ammo
I sometimes get 101 rounds in a 100 round box of WWB 9mm.
The ammos the same, the guys trying to make a sale by bs'ing you, if he lies to you about something like that what else might he try to lie to you about to make a sale.
Companies do make cheaper products solely for sale at Walmart stores. This is why they can keep their prices so much cheaper than other rival stores. This is just what Ive been told from people I know who work in business, and I definitely believe it. The quality of items from walmart stores IMO can be much worse than other department stores, and a side-by-side comparison of the items can easily reveal this.
Now, in terms of ammo I have not found any siginificant difference in the quality from walmart stores and from any other sporting goods store. I have shot thousands of rounds from walmart and I personally can not tell the difference between these and the same rounds bought from any other store. Although, I have noticed a slight difference in the packaging of walmart ammo, but in my experience this has nothing to do with the quality of the ammo itself

My biggest account used to make products for Walmart. Walmart has very strict quality demands (packaging, shipping, inspections) and they make their money by by the cent rather than the percentage. I buy ammo from them all the time and have had zero problems.
No. That would be doing themselves a disservice, why cheapen your product and leave consumers unhappy with the quality? The reason retailers like walmart sell them cheaper is the portions are typically smaller and they buy in much larger bulk quantities getting a better price, thus they can sell at a cheaper price. There is no 'watering down' going on.
on the flip side of this coin i got 48 rounds in a 50 round box of 9x18 one day at a gun shop. [sad2]
You may be right, none of us know for sure. But ive always found that certain products from walmart, not including ammo, like Hanes white t-shirts are alot different than the same package from Kohls or another clothing store

Cheap ammo is cheap ammo. I use it all the time. I would suspect if you took WWB at walmart and at the gun shop, and compared the numbers, they would be the same. There is one that had WM in the code, which I remember hearing is a run made just for Walmart, but I could be wrong on that.

If Hanes has a distribution contract with Wal-mart and sells to them at a lower price than they can get from Kohl’s, and Hanes uses many different cotton suppliers with one of them having a cheaper brand of inferior cotton. Then I could see there being a difference between Wal-Mart's and Kohl’s. That could be the case with ammo too but I have no idea how it's manufactured.
I had a buddy of mine that bought some .44 from a local gun shop a long time ago. We were at the range this year and were trying out his S&W 629 so he pulled out the box of ammo from way back when. We noticed the price tag on the box was covering another price tag so we removed the top one out of curiosity. The old label was a Kmart tag (long time ago Kmart stopped selling guns and ammo so they must have sold out cheap to the local gun shops) that read $7.50 and of course the dealers tag read $17.50
Kind of off topic but I was thinking about how some dealers buy bulk from Wally World and mark it up to sell at their own shop.
