No sweat, didn't think you were going hyper like that.I wasn't necessarily advocating that we as private citizens become armed super heroes, more poking "fun" at the fact that most of the shootings where one of us thwarted the ne'er do well, and that most of the settings were not gun free zones.
One aspect of "let the kids use their own guns"
is to highlight that the 2nd amendment is not fundamentally
an entitlement program for people (adults) to get a free ride
on armed residents' deterrent.
Another aspect is to underscore how
the higher the legal costs of self-defense,
the lesser the incentive for gun owners to
step up and defend strangers.
