Vintage ArmaLite scope question

I saw a used ArmaLite 2.75x20mm scope for sale today. It has a factory M16 handle style mount installed. It is a neat looking scope but the price is $550.00. I did some research and see these go for some crazy money. Besides the whole vintage appeal, what’s so special about them? BTW, while doing some research, I couldn’t find a pic of one with that style mount, most were called the 180 Mount? I have a preban Bushmaster it would look pretty cool on!
