The movie was made by Thomas Edison's company, and shot on 11/1/1894.

I don't know what kind of gun she is using.
It's fascinating what early motion picture makers chose to film. I'm interested in film history and once received a collection of DVDs of Edison's movies. Apparently, people at the time regarded movies as a kind of "moving photograph," so filmmakers were interested in any kind of action that showed motion. I imagine people of the day being interested in the smoke coming out of the end of her gun, or her targets bursting.
