Anyone one know who the guy in the video before Jim Wallace was? He was a representative and a criminologist by profession. He bashed John Lott which surprised me because he presented well (meaning pretty fairly) beyond that.

He's a State Rep from Suffolk county, can't recall his name at the moment though.

Zach, thanks for posting.

A rep from Attleborough I think. He talked about the Kansas City gun experiment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_W._Sherman

And said he submitted HB 3501.

I found interesting the passage by linsky where he's talking about suitability for FID. He says it doesn't matter if it's a handgun, shotgun or semi-automatic rifle - the all do the same damage. He is saying that "assault weapons" are no more or less dangerous than any other type of weapon.

So can we remove the AWB now? [rofl]

Thanks for doing this. Didn't get a chance to see Jim testify. Thanks to you I was able to watch it.

Holy crap, you were right next to me. [smile]

I wanted to jump up and scream in sound-bite-coakley's face when she talked about the 'gun show loophole'. Lying bitch. If anyone deserves the C word as a descriptor, she's it.

I was right next to him and I wanted to get up and fan Cabral when she was sweating but Ted advised against it!

So, I've been a reader of this site for a while, but forgot my account info so I recently had to make a new one. ANYWAY now that that is out of the way.... there is a question I came up with after following this bill and watching some of these videos. I apologize if it has already been asked/posed or if it is a "dumb" question.

If private sales will no longer be legal and one must go through and FFL will we need to pay a fee for the transfer as it would be required?

Thanks. So no real change on that front.

umm...if all sales have to go through an FFL that means kiss all "non-compliant" handguns goodbye. And the bill gives the AG even more power in determining what is compliant for sale in MA, giving the state free reign in banning almost any handgun out there.

In regards to your comment.....

I understand that as I Have just purchased a Glock 19 Gen 4 brand new.

If you read you would see that I was discussing the fee and only the fee. No real change on THAT front - the fee. In other words, in regards to the fee, it is now a set price where ever you go.

there would be a change considering right now if you do a face to face transfer you don't have to pay a dealer a fee

I KNOW that if you do a face to face transfer you dont need to pay a dealer fee... I MEAN, why would you if there is no dealer involved? This is not what I am asking or referring to.

I give up. You guys are just telling me things I already know and that do not pertain to my question. Forgive me for asking a question.

It's not a set price. I have a buddy who has an FFL that does my transfers for free. Some dealers don't want to deal with the BS and charge $50 to keep people away.

Not that it matters, the fee isn't the issue here.

Thank you for posting this for everyone who couldn't make it. Can't wait to finish watching all these tonight!

and some dealers charge more than $25 so it would be a change for the better at those places

I think I misread your question, I wasn't attacking it

Under the new legislation it would be a set price. If you followed the posts you'd know that that is what I was referring to.

Correct, I know that some places charge more.

And understood - I just thought that like many others you were just making smug remarks. My apologies
