I was up in Vt this weeknd and in talking to my resident friend he
informed me that the deer hunting standards for a buck had changed
this year. Looking it up it says that the deer must have at least
one antler with two points on it. The main beam and one that is
at least an inch long. Also I did not go archery hunting this year
but does were taken of the list. It was a bucks only archery
season. They are trying to increase the quantity of 2.5 yr bucks
available for reproducing.

Sorry as I'm a little late on the subject, but during archery in VT, you can still take a doe and a buck. During rifle season it is bucks only..no spikes ..and they have to have at least two points on one side. A point is at least one inch long, measured from the main tine to the tip of the point in a straight line. During muzzleloader season, you can take a doe if you have a permit for the area, and a buck. And you can use archery tackle during the muzzleloader season (archery season is split) with the same rules as the first archery season.
The state website spells it out, but it is kind of vague. I've e-mailed them with questions and they answer right away.
I think this new law will be in effect for a couple of more years.
