Venezuela's new decree: Forced farm work for citizens

A new decree by Venezuela's government could make its citizens work on farms to tackle the country's severe food shortages.

In a vaguely-worded decree, Venezuelan officials indicated that public and private sector employees could be forced to work in the country's fields for at least 60-day periods, which may be extended "if circumstances merit."
I like the "vaguely-worded" part. Just like with MA gun laws, the vagueness leaves things open to whatever interpretation the local despots want to use.

It's just a little hard to believe this is going on in 2016.

Full article.

It may become cost effective to use the lower denominations at toilet paper.

There's already a past example of that in Zimbabwe and signs were posted at toilets not to use it/flush it as it clogged the toilets.

Anyone want to complain about "farm subsidies" ???

Anyone want to still remain blind to the "Free Shit Army" and their net drain on society?

Anyone who thinks that the U.S. is immune to this same condition that is happening in Venezuela needs to open their eyes a little wider. All systems are prone to failure at some point and when a country has an increasing portion of its population actively working to "break the system", it will fail that much sooner and the rate at which the system fails is not a gentle linear graph.

Makes all those "preppers" out there that people out of hand label as nut cases look like geniuses. When you have no long range plans for survival and don't work at them, you wont survive.

And a good thing you did. We are seeing a real-world example of what can happen to a developed country. They are having a genuine mid-level SHTF situation: food, water and power shortages. Astronomical %500 inflation (paper money is becoming worthless). The .gov has basically declared martial law.

Anyone that considers themselves a prepper should be watching what happens in Venezuela very carefully. What's happening there is a prime example of what we should be prepping for. And we need to watch what the [STRIKE= ]subjects[/STRIKE] people do and learn what works and what doesn't.

This is Obama's and Clinton's vision for America." Hope and change." Over the last 8 years we've all seen the change, but where's the hope ??????

Just....wow. It's like I'm reading about 1943 Nazi Germany, but this is 2016, the country isn't even at war and used to be a prosperous country.

Venezuelan police crushed and chopped up nearly 2,000 shotguns and pistols in a Caracas city square on Wednesday, as the new interior minister relaunched a long-stalled gun control campaign in one of the world's most crime-ridden countries.

Interior Minister Nestor Reverol said the event marked the renewal of efforts to disarm Venezuelans, through a combination of seizures and a voluntary program

What comes after the guns are gone? Are the sheep in the hole so beaten down that they are unable to fight back against this or is the propaganda and brain washing so effective that they don't want to?

Surely confiscating and destroying guns will end all violence in an economy where people are starving and out of work and gangs are running rampant. Good reporting, #gunsense! [troll][puke]

The linked article says they made prepping illegal and "detained food hoarders". Wow.

We have a decent sized garden 30' x 30' but I need to put aside some good seeds. The bigger concern is if people are that hungry we'd need to set-up a 24/7 armed watch over the garden.

All that means is that your garden will be producing meat also. Long pig. The other, other white meat.

The problem is it's a lawless country, where the police have gone totally corrupt because they are starving due to runaway inflation. The bad guys, and this now includes a lot of police, will always have guns. The sheep will be eaten.

I have friends from that cluster F of a country and they are, as you'd imagine, very upset. The people with any money have pretty much left. Many went to Panama and opened new businesses and tried to go on with their life while their home country is in total shambles. It's sad. Gets no play in main stream media compared to other areas that are not right in our back yard.

Took longer than I thought but they are eating each other in the prisons now....

http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/ne...low-inmates-during-riot-in-venezuelan-prison/

And America dumped 40,000 gallons of milk to keep prices up...

In fairness, the guy leading the cannibalism in the prison was a well known cannibal down there (the "Hannibal Lectre of the Andes"), and he forced other people to eat humans at knifepoint or something. He may have just been hungry, not starving.

We have a real SHTF situation going on that country. From a prepper / survivalist standpoint, has anyone heard stories from down there about what works or what doesn't work that we could learn from?
