Venezuela

"This is what Communism Looks Like"

A historic exodus is leaving Venezuela without teachers, doctors and electricians

An unruly 9-year-old bolted from his classroom, prompting a volunteer teacher to chase him down the hall. He would normally be hauled straight to Romina Sciaca’s office. But the guidance counselor was gone — part of a wave of staffers to flee Aquiles Nazoa Elementary School.

This collapsing socialist state is suffering one of the most dramatic outflows of human talent in modern history, with Aquiles Nazoa offering a glimpse into what happens when a nation begins to empty out. Vast gaps in Venezuela’s labor market are causing a breakdown in daily life, and robbing this nation of its future. The exodus is broad and deep — an outflow of doctors, engineers, oil workers, bus drivers and electricians.

And teachers.

Think of Venezuela like one big factory where the societal assembly line no longer works — partly because there are fewer and fewer people to run it.

During the first five months of the year, roughly 400,000 Venezuelans have fled the country, following 1.8 million who left over the last two years, according to the Central University of Venezuela. Yet even those numbers may not fully capture the scope of the exodus. Aid workers dealing with the crisis in bordering nations say an average of 4,600 Venezuelans a day have been leaving since Jan. 1 — putting the outflow during this year alone at nearly 700,000.

The Venezuelans are running from a nation broken by failed socialist policies, mismanagement, corruption and lower global oil prices — the country’s principal source of cash.

“It’s not just about a few doctors leaving anymore,” said Tomas Páez, a migration expert at the Central University of Venezuela. “It’s about [understaffed] hospitals closing down whole floors.”

The people who have left will never vote for anything that resembles Soacialism ever again wherever they resettle. No doubt this disaster has given people a teachable moment in history.

they deserve it. Stupid bastards. Communism has ALWAYS failed and always for the same reason. WTF made them "think" that they were special and thus, exempt from the laws of human nature and economics? Europe would have fallen long ago if it were not for the US taxpayer funding their defense.

Venezuela. Largest, supposedly, oil reserves in the WORLD. Thank Mr. Chavez for ****ing up the country. And people wonder why I buy 20 cans of Dinty Moore at a time.

It’s not good oil, crude. They have to mix it with Middle East crude in order to refine it for gasoline production. It’s best used for asphalt/furnaces. Their refineries are all in disrepair after trained/experiences employees were replaced by political appointees.

Btw, no privately owned firearms there, this supposed revolution has been a slow roll for years

If only this was true. I'm guessing there are more than a few among the fleeing who believe that Chavez could have prevented all this.

This turd won the Dem primary in NY.......and she's an escapee from Venezuela......pimping the same policies/bullshit that have caused her home country to degenerate into tyranny and misery

Surprise! Young Socialist Beats Democrat Establishment Candidate

While the 28-year-old's age, gender, and ethnicity were of much interest to those watching the 14th Congressional District race, there's one thing about Ocasio-Cortez that particularly stands out—she's a bona fide Socialist.

Ocasio-Cortez reconfirmed that she was a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.

Venezuela’s Maduro Admits Socialist Model Has Failed

The Maduro Diet:

Solution? Even more socialism as the Venezuelan people clearly aren't doing it right.

“I estimate it will take about two years to reach a high level of stability and see the first symptoms of new and economic prosperity, without for one second affecting social security and protection,” added the president.

However, Democratic Socialism will definitely work in the USA.

Given the choice between a R and a crazy D, that district will probably vote for the D. Looks like we're going to get a bit more of crazy in congress.

The pile of bolivars needed to buy a roll of toilet paper is taller than the roll itself.

It is pretty sad when your country's currency is so devalued that people are better off literally wiping their ass with it.

Zimbabwe encountered a similar problem, virtually worthless money being used as a$$wipe......it was clogging the toilets up.

I'd sooner pour water down the crack of my a$$ and then wash my hands than use dirty, germ infested currency.

Toiletpaper is an over rated item. You actually get better results with water, (probably not a good idea in a desert environment though).

The French figured that out centuries ago with their biholer contraption. Trying selling a bidet to Americans if you want a laff.

The sad part of this whole episode in the failed socialist state of Venezuela is that the mainstream media fails to report what is actually going on down there. It does not fit the liberal/progressive/democrat media narrative so it's unreported or slightly glazed over as an afterthought - like the old "nothing to see here" line. The amazing part of this whole story is that it appears that most people are completely unaware of this situation and could give a shit less what happens to these poor people. The Dem's, Commie's, Socialist's, (they're all the same!) love to talk about "momma's being separated from their babies at the border" but none of them mention the plight of the Venezuelan people. Truly sad and unforgivable from a societal standpoint!
