Still another misconception there though, the 2nd amendment doesn't give or grant anything, it recognizes a pre-existing right.

I am glad that we have the bill of rights because those in government clearly don't understand the rest of the document. Even without the 2nd amendment, the government wouldn't have the legal right to gun control since it is not one of the specifically enumerated powers.
