Utah License

I looked into the Utah permit but considering the states it covers (most I will never visit), and the cost of and time to take another class (my training was awhile ago), I figured it wasn't really worth it for me.

But if you like to travel I can certainly see the value in it.

I just renewed my Florida CCW as I have family there and we used to travel with the RV.

Florida is a PITA as non-residents need to resubmit a new fingerprint card each renewal and it must be done by a sworn officer. My PD hates doing the and always tries to push you off to Identogo which they won’t accept. Last time my PD just refused and I had to have a friend do it.

I renewed my UT permit in 2023. Took a new picture on my cell phone, easy. I stupidly let my AZ lapse. I’ll have to submit a new application for AZ when I head out there again. I still have property there. The AZ permit combined with my AZ ID card would allow me to buy stuff there.

I had to do a class to get my Maine one years ago so I got the Utah at the same time. Since then I dropped the Maine one but kept the Utah for all the other states it’s good for. I don’t get a lot of use out of it but my better 1/2 and I are looking at doing some RV trips in a few years so it will definitely come in handy.

UT I don’t think so, but my better 1/2 may have handed it to me and I forgot. AZ I don’t know.
my last renewal they politely prompted me to do so. I dont believe the new card is even out of the envelope so I forget when it expires. Im guessing they'll remind me when it comes due again, though I'll check the date just to be certain.

Utah only gives you 5 states, all the others on its list are constitutional carry.
Florida, while technically not constitutional carry it is permitless carry.
They are permission slips!
Not to be excited over.

Getting my Utah 15 years ago has ended up being a waste of time and money. YMMV
I've found this this to be true too. I think I fell into the marketing of the class, carry in 31 states! At this point for how easy it is to keep it renewed I continue to support UT with the payment every X amount of years. better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it (though this just may be a justification I make to myself on this particular comment now that I have it and spend the time to initially get it etc. not sure I'd go through the trouble today.)

With TX, RI, and PA permits, I can carry in just about every state I expect to travel to. Add in my MA Resident LTC (which wasn't revoked after my notifying the FRB I moved to Texas) and MA is on the list. Whether I'd risk carrying on that with my other IDs showing a TX address is a different story.

Back around 2017 when I looked at getting PA vs UT licenses, I decided that PA did more for me than UT so never pursued it.

When they expire I won't be renewing PA, RI, or MA as PA recognizes a TX LTC and I'm not overly concerned about MA or RI.

Getting some of these other states permits used to mean a lot more before constitutional carry. Now it seems like most states that they had reciprocity with have constitutional carry anyway.
