Taran Butler Wins Area 2 Limited Match

SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. — Simi Valley’s Taran Butler won the Limited Pistol division at the United States Practical Shooting Association’s Area 2 Regional Championships held November 6-9 at the Rio Salado range in Mesa, Ariz.

Butler, who won four of the 11 stages, took the Limited title by just over 43 points after taking the lead on the seventh stage and holding it through to the end for a final score of 1439.8736 points.

“Taran shot a great match at the World Shoot in Bali to help bring home the gold medal for the U.S. It’s clear by his Area 2 win that he’s still on top of his game,” said Chris Endersby, USPSA’s Area 2 Director.

Henning Wallgren of Longmont, Colo., finished second with 1396.7932. John Mouret of Surprise, Ariz., took third with a score of 1360.4397. Rounding out the top five were Glenn Shelby of Aztec, N.M. in fourth with 1328.4505 and Canadian shooter Mike Brunell of Woodbridge, Ontario, in fifth with 1316.9491.
