New Mexico Shooter Claims Single Stack Area 4 Title

SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. — Andrew Butts of Artesia, N.M., won the Single Stack Pistol division at the United States Practical Shooting Association’s Area 4 Regional Championships held November 14-16 in San Angelo, Texas.

Butts won half of the 12 stages as he beat Eric Fuson of Tulsa, Okla., by 58 points with a final score of 1113.9608. Fuson won five stages finishing second with 1055.9361.

“Andrew was in total control of the single stack match winning key stages and maintaining the lead throughout,” said Dave Thomas, USPSA’s executive director.

Rounding out the top five were Steven Cline of San Antonio, Texas, in third with 855.2489, Paul Payne, a super senior competitor from Liberty Hill, Texas, in fourth with 669.6372 and John Boeker, a senior shooter from Las Cruces, N.M., in fifth with 648.3339.

A total of 120 top pistol shooters competed in USPSA’s Open, Limited, Limited-10, Production, Revolver and Single Stack divisions at the regional championship.

The USPSA Area 4 region includes Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas but competitors from Arizona, Florida, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, New York and Utah attend.
