Max Michel Goes 5 For 5 With USPSA Area 5 Win

Sedro-Woolley, WA — Max Michel, a native of Meraux, Louisiana and member of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU), won the Open Division title at the United States Practical Shooting Association’s (USPSA) Area 5 Regional Championships, and in doing so has gone five for five in major match competition this season.

“Max has dominated every single major match he’s shot this season winning the three Area matches he entered, the Florida Open and the US Steel Nationals. I think it’s safe to say he’s on track to defend his championship title at this year’s USPSA Open Nationals,” said Gary Stevens, USPSA’s Area 5 Director.

Michel, a Staff Sergeant with the famed Army Marksmanship Unit stationed at Georgia’s Ft. Benning, won seven of the 12 stages and led the field throughout the match. Fellow USAMU teammate, Spc. KC Eusebio, finished second delivering the third one-two finish for the Army this season. Chris Tilley’s strong performance winning four stages was good enough to place third. Lesgar Murdock finished fourth while Thomas Moore rounded out the top five Open shooters.

The USPSA Area 5 Championships were held at the South Kent Sportsman’s Club in Dorr, Michigan. A total of 283 top shooters competed in USPSA’s Open, Limited, Limited-10, Production, Revolver and Single Stack divisions. The USPSA Area 5 region includes Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
