John Bagakis Captures USPSA Area 1 Revolver Title

Sedro-Woolley, WA — John Bagakis of Livermore, California won five of the 12 stages and led the field the entire way to capture the 2008 Revolver Division Championship at the United States Practical Shooting Association’s (USPSA) Area 1 match held June 26-29 in Sherwood, Oregon.

“John Bagakis is one of the top revolver shooters in the Western U.S. and winning the Area 1 match by more than 100 match points shows why,” said Bruce Gary, USPSA’s Area 1 Director.

A contingent of Washington state shooters rounded out the top five with the 2007 Champion James Austin of Fox Island finishing second, Roger Edington of Renton placing third for the second year in a row, Bill Salhberg of Spokane taking fourth and John Schroeder of Bellevue finishing fifth.

The USPSA Area 1 Championships were held at the Tri-County Gun Club in Sherwood, Oregon. A total of 300 top shooters competed in USPSA’s Open, Limited, Limited-10, Production, Revolver and Single Stack divisions. The USPSA Area 1 region includes Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming but competitors from Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Texas, Virginia and British Columbia, Canada attended.
