I was tdy at Aberdeen proving ground in 2004 or 2005 and they asked for volunteers to play a rioting crowd to test a sound device.....I volunteered to take part. Damn that shit was loud! Definitely made everyone in the crowd cover their ears and cease what they were doing. The unit they were testing was vehicle mounted. It sent out a loud high pitch sound in short pulses about every 5 seconds.

British police did the same thing in Northern Ireland back in the early 1970s. An innocent woman sitting in her home and looking out her window at protests was shot with a rubber bullet by the RUC. The baton round smashed through her living room window and hit her in the face. She lost her vision in both eyes.
