I've got probably around 300 pounds of soft lead.
People were throwing it out, so I took it.

Would any of the reloaders here have a use for it?

I don't know how you could take solid lead and form bullets out of it....

I'd sign up for a green membership and put it in the classifieds. I'm sure there are a few people that would take it to cast their own projectiles...

To cast bullets do they just heat it up and pour it in a mold?

More or less, yes.

You need to clean it up first by melting, fluxing, and then skimming off the impurities. You also need to alloy raw lead with other metals (tin and antimony) to make it harder (unless you're casting for a muzzleloader).

Then you heat it up in a casting pot, and pour it into a mold to make bullets. After that you need to lube the bullets before you shoot them.

Always on the hunt for more lead. I use the good stuff for bullets, the crappy stuff for surf casting weights. Either go green and list it for sale or you could always karma it to someone that would use it.

I would make sure it ends up in a happy b00lit making home, black powder guys like the soft pure lead.

What you will get for lead at a scrap yard is a lot less than what the scrap yard sells it for. I just called a junk yard in RI and they said they were selling pure lead for $0.50/lbs and a little less for WW. Expect to get less than that if you try to sell it to them. You might want to call a local place and see what you can get for it and sell it here for the same price (or a little more). If you were closer, I would be interested..

I've listed it for 1$ a pound.
I'm not sure if that's reasonable or not.

Little high. There's still plenty of free WW if you look hard enough.
