So, that would be like the 2018 flu season......

Even still, high early-season vaccination rates and a relatively effective annual vaccine appeared to help suppress illnesses. In total, the CDC estimates that up to 42.9 million people got sick during the 2018-2019 flu season, 647,000 people were hospitalized and 61,200 died. That’s fairly on par with a typical season, and well below the CDC’s 2017-2018 estimates of 48.8 million illnesses, 959,000 hospitalizations and 79,400 deaths.

I guess i should take the life insurance policy from the shoebox and make a list of passwords so my wife can close down my accounts.

2017-2018 flu season killed 80,000 people - most in 40 years. Makes you wonder if Covid-19 was already around then.

It's important to remember that the vast majority of flu cases are assumed, not actually tested. When they say 30 million people got the flu, that's maybe 1 million tested, the rest are estimated.

While deaths from regular flu with vaccine estimated by CDC 30,000 to 60,000 (2017 /2018 was above 60,000). So a third worse than regular flu?
And that difference amounts to a rounding error (sadly) in the overall scope of deaths by various causes every year in the US

Nature is retaliating from 300 years of medicine and technology that has doubled life expectancy and population by 10x. Regular flu, Corona, whateve, is only going to get worse.

This for sure. I honestly think my family already had it in January. We all had a horrific viral upper respiratory infection with some level of viral pneumonia or bronchitis with high fever that dragged on for about two weeks and the one person in the family with asthma ended up with pretty bad pneumonia from it.

I got pneumonia last year for the first time in my life. Then again I'd never been 50 before.
