    • Scott Hapgood was charged with manslaughter for the death of Kenny Mitchel
    • He was staying at the Malliouhana hotel in Anguilla with his family last month
    • On April 13, he says Mitchel showed up at his room claiming to want to fix a sink
    • Hapgood says he came inside, pulled a knife on him and then tried to rob him
    • He was inside with his two young daughters at the time and fought the man off
    • He suffered bites to the face and cuts before a security guard intervened
    • Autopsy says Mitchel died of asphyxiation, Hapgood says he didn't choke him
    • Hapgood flew back to Connecticut on private jet after posting $74,000 bail
    • Locals enraged by the case, say it was unjust Hapgood was allowed to post bail
This is the moment two traumatized daughters clung to their mother after watching their father fight a hotel handyman after he arrived 'uninvited' to their five-star Anguilla hotel room and allegedly launched an attack.

Scott Hapgood, 44, was charged with manslaughter after he allegedly killed Kenny Mitchel, 27, during his family's vacation at the Malliouhana Resort on April 13.

Hapgood, of Connecticut, has claimed that Mitchel arrived unannounced at their hotel room, claiming he was there to fix a broken sink that no one in the family had reported.

Mitchel then allegedly tried to rob Hapgood, a banker at UBS, who claims he fought back in self-defense.

Good thing this dad defended his daughter against the rapist.

The rapist followed the young girls back to their room and had bad intentions.

Good on the dad! Common sense dictates that his side of the story was the fact.

Hes back here but they can still extradite him if they want to, which will likely not be good for him. hes lucky to be well off and be able to hire a good attorney, anyone else would still be at the island...

Sadly, Coakley would have tried to have him indicted if that happened in her district when she was DA. But Juries in MA still seem to be smarter than the law even if they are stupid enough to elect dumarses like Coakley.
No way this guy will get a fair trial in that country. They already want to hang him.

Insane story, horrible situation for the family to have to go through. Article says the attacker was restrained by the security guard so I assume he was still alive after being pulled off Hapgood, whose nose he was apparently trying to bite off... can’t say this is exactly a tragic loss and it’s crazy that Hapgood is facing any charges at all; he should be suing the hotel.

Interesting side note, the pathologist doing the autopsy was named Dr. Stephen King:
