Under Armour’s #MeToo Moment: No More Strip Clubs on Company Dime
In a Feb. 20 email to staff, Under Armour’s finance chief, David Bergman, said the company would no longer reimburse certain expenses, including adult entertainment, limousine services and gambling, according to the email, which was reviewed by the Journal.
    ---------------
What a nice progressive company! Good PR well placed on the midterms election day!
Finally progressive Democrats have something to fight for the next few years: Higher minimum wage and all gambling and adult entertainment expenses covered! Forget Obama's mobile phones for everyone!

I think I have one pair of outlet purchased wicking thermals from them. I like my EMS stuff much better.

They should move to MA and become the head of F&G. Remember that dude who would show up to work everyday to strip clubs on taxpayer's dime?

Don't care, but I can see why they would do this. It's not uncommon for business to be conducted over lunch or drinks. In the world of professional womanizing athletes like those in the NFL I'm sure strip clubs we're the venue of choice for their customers.
By the way, it's not demonization of woman. The women who work those clubs do so of their own accord and are paid quite well for it.

Good idea! They can revitalize Boston Combat Zone and Maathy will have something to brag about since Amazon ain't happening.

Breaking News: Under Armour, the sports wear giant founded in 1996, just realized it is not 1982.

Don't really care as long as they keep making good stuff for slobs like me. I buy their shirts and shorts because they're comfortable, look decent, and clean up very easy. They also tend to hold up over time...

The were just trying to keep up with Nike liberal posturing.

BTW, the guys kneeling for the Anthem are going to Strip Clubs and engaging in #metoo antics. How does a liberal reconcile that?

I don't really think it's that irrational to axe that stuff out of a corporate expense scheme, unless there's some big proof that they need to woo sponsors or athletes for ads with stuff like
that.... money should be enough to do that job.

The problem is that it doing so is very demeaning to female employees of UnderArmour. I understand why UnderArmour did this. But I still consider it morally wrong. Just to be clear, I don’t think it is morally wrong to go to a strip club. I do think it is morally wrong to do that under the guise of work and to expense it to the company.

I’ve got two direct reports at work, both women. I would never dream of taking a work contact to a strip club.

Odds are it'll still happen- just with more discreet billing for the "entertainment" expenses. A lot of sales is done with wining and dining- as long as it doesn't show up as "the nudie bar" on the credit card slip....

I didn't know this was an option anymore, outside of Hollywood or politicians. It has been 20 years since I worked at a place that even allowed alcohol at a business party or lunch, let alone strippers.

I'm not even sure what that is, but yep. At the party this week, we at least had pizza delivered. The good stuff, not Papa Gino's.

When I started in sales, my boss told me he wont bat an eye at a $4000 dinner, but that he doesn't want to see expenses from a strip joint.

My company could not care less about the mix of alcohol vs food expenses as long as it's "reasonable". I have a lot of sandwich/burger and drinks when my expenses go in. When it is company dinners, we are going to drink, then steak or seafood entrees for dinner. We work long hours at a train show and then get a little spoiled and don't complain about how beat we are. ($$$ bill but no one is getting silly drunk)

I recall being hauled into the CFO’s office 30 years ago over some minor expense report infraction. He said “Damn it, didn’t I tell you that hookers go under miscellaneous?” He looked at the finance guy and said “These people are away from their home and family working with customers all week while we work 9-5 and come home every night - if they have to spend over limit in a big city to buy a decent meal, that’s just fine.”

Those were the days, my friend...

How is a completely voluntary interaction between two parties demeaning?
