I have used corn cob and walnut shell media with decent results. What else will work ? Has anyone tried speedy dry ? I was given some, but haven't used it yet. I saw a note about adding small pieces of paper towels to the tumbler and/or used dryer softener sheets. I tried the paper towels and they do seem to absorb a lot of gunk.
I am not trying to get my brass to look like new, just clean and lightly polished, and looking for economical alternatives.
Thanks

Speedy Dry is dusty and doesn't last long. Rice doesn't work well, doesn't last long, and is expensive compared to corncob sandblast media at $25 for 50#. Ceramic doesn't work well dry, tends to be too aggressive, and is very expensive.

While one can buy 50# bags of "lizard litter" at PetSmart or equivalent and save yourself the bother of finding a sandblasting supply shop nearby.

Besides, you probably have a pet anyway, so it's not even an extra trip.
