Traveling for work Friday. Anyone see any longer than usual lines at Logan through security due to the shutdown? Are the JBTs more surly than usual?

The troops left for Mo-zurri on New Year's Day. No reduction of staff then. And the airport was empty. So empty that they cancelled their connecting flight while they were airborne and it took them an extra 4-5 hours to get home. :(

I wouldn't worry about going out...I would worry about coming in. The port of entries when coming back from a foreign country are always a [email protected] show. It doesnt matter which airport I use, Miami, Orlando, Newark, Atlanta ... all [email protected] shows. I expect them to be worse now, since making sure the lines move fast probably isn't a high priority job and they try to stick it to the citizens, like it is our fault those f-ing morons cant get their [email protected] together and keep the govt running.

The last one I came through was Orlando last month coming back from MX. They had 5 people for foreigners and one slow a** dude (but very nice, we had a nice laugh) guy. No computers, it was old school. 50-70 Americans, and it took 45min to get through.

If you are traveling domestic only, you will be fine.

Just flew out of Logan yesterday. No difference in wait time. They did turn up the metal detector though. My shoes have never set off the detector but they did this time. Along with many other people in the pre check line. So be prepared for that. I’d suggest no metal eyelets on your shoes

Lack of TSA probably makes the lines move faster. I wouldn’t worry about it.

Just flew from Tampa to Logan and back on Sunday and Tuesday. Long lines, but TSA seemed to well staffed. Brother is coming at the end of February, but there is talk that there will be less agents
then if they don't get paid this week.

Customs took an hour and a half but that just might be a thing.

Their attitude however was pretty good.

I liked the pic I saw of a TSA agent doing a crotch check and the cardboard sign read, "Will grope for food."

I flew out of Logan Wednesday evening on American and the place was a ghost town. Lots of TSA. No line at all. Easy-peasy.

flying today, add an hour to your time. if you dont have pre-check or not a premier flyer, bring a snack as the line will be like getting into a gun show... Standing in the line and hearing 20 times 'No Bottles of Water, Take your Laptops out, Take your shoes off" only to see some asshat walk up to the xray with shoes on, belt on, phone in pocket and laptop still in bag...well makes me want to dope slap some people but I have to get on my flight!

Some government workers may have a rude awakening when they return...someone may actually figure out that they can do more with less...welcome to the real world folks.

+1000. I got "stripped down" before I got in the line and boots loosened up. Got behind some older "professor" type at Logan who still had his shoes, belt, sport coat on and laptop zipped in its bag. Sigh.

That in itself should allow for you to taze someone. Just a quick snap and then step over him to get to the X-ray!

That would be ideal. Instead all politicians will spend more.

Logan terminal B is loaded with TSA right now.

Took me less than a minute to get through pre-check.

The government should use this opportunity to tell the TSA not to bother to come back to work. For all the billions of dollars spent, I seriously doubt they have prevented any acts of terrorism that a metal detector at the gate wouldn't have.

About a minute for BWI terminal D this morning.

Plenty of agents....including the ones giving some 85 year old lady an enhanced patdown.

I flew out of Orlando yesterday. It's always a zoo on Fridays filled with families that don't know the drill. The standard line was a little longer at 45 minutes but I breezed through TSA Pre in less than 5 minutes.

I agree with your second sentence, but there is a way for that to be done, and this isn't it.

I always have to go through the body scanner. Logan last night was a breeze at 8:30 pm

i blew thru las vegas TSA precheck line in about 4 minutes. No effect, but they are missing their paychecks, and are a little vocal about it.
