Trump tells NRA background checks are off the table

Trump is a 'Deal Maker' - he is likely to go for any Deal he thinks is advantageous to himself and his view of USA Govt.
Not sure he cares a whip about the underlying issue or any gun owner as an individual expressing that right.

Better than most Dems, Worse than many others.

If he wants another term he should no better than to pass any any anti-gun legislation. IMO that’s one of the main reasons the Democrats are so hot to pass anything.

I think ERPO is every Statists go-to. And on the surface, it seems like the least of all evils. After all, if you don't act or speak like a racist/supremisist, homicidal/suicidal maniac, you have nothing to worry about right? And a judge has to approve, so it's kinda not extra-judicial?

Until the next spree of shootings, and the ERPO criteria changes from racist/supremecist homicial/suicidal maniac to just gun owner...

It is a slippery slope. So someone says something racist or non PC then they revoke the 2A after using the 1A.

Exactly. That is the Statists mantra. If they come knocking then you must be a bad guy...

Is this becoming a "Trumpism"...?

First spin down the hype and show Joe Citizen that things will be "made safe",
then after some time has past, reaffirm to the base, "Have no fear, your Rights are intact..."

Anyone ok with any amount of gun control because trump, is a piece of shit and should die in the socialist fire they voted for.

This +1.

Trump is a "Useful Idiot" until no longer useful.

I put no trust in any politician, political party or government.

"We are a Government of One..."

Act accordingly.

Trump doesn't give two shits about rights. It'll be interesting to see what he does but my suspicion is that their data suggests that majority of 2A voters will vote for him either way cuz the alternatives are much worse. If he passes some gun control he can gain himself some new voters and say look I got a deal done as a Republican the Dems haven't been able to do anything in 20 years.

So I read the very short article and it doesn't give much info. I don't think there should be ANY background checks but this article indicates that the background checks would be for all "dealer" sales and all sales at a gun show including private buyers. To me that basically means you are going to eliminate private sales AT gun shows. And there is some bullshit about either the seller or FFL keeping record of the sale. I wonder how that would work??? Obviously, in our current system, only FFLs can run a background check for a sale. So, I sell my gun to Joe at a gun show with an FFL running the background check. Isn't the FFL required to have a 4473 filled out and required to keep that 4473? And what happens if Joe and I decide to just complete the sale afterwards down the street at the donut shop? No background check? I really don't think these people think this stuff through.

I smell federal ERPO bullshit, and hear ERPO ducks quacking, everywhere. Because most wobblies and jingoservatives are 110% in love with bullshit like ERPO and don't understand fun things like due process. Then after it gets rammed down our throats they will all act surprised when an ERPO by proxy deal happens to someone they know (like that uncle in VT) and then it will suddenly dawn on them how f***ed up the entire idea is, but it will be too late to roll it back because people will respond with a lispy sounding mantra of "So you support not being able to take guns away from crazy people? BWEAH!!!!" trumpet noises etc.... right now Bloomturd is probably rubbing one out every night over the prospect of a federal ERPO law passing.

I'm confused where I stand on this, since I didn't vote for Trump, but defo down for the socialist hellscape.

Gotta enjoy the simple pleasures before it's all over, like watching MAGA folks try to explain how Trump is a staunch 2A advocate even as he openly courts anti-gun legislation.

Everyone change your party affiliation to democrat, vote for beto in the primary. Lets get this shit started.
Democrats do this "all the time" to get weak primary candidates for their favorite D. Then in the general they vote for their "D."

I have been saying for years, y'all need to learn to fight like the Dems. Flood their primary and vote for the worst of the worst. At the same time, there are lots of places where the Ds go unchallenged by anyone form other parties. Obviously, one would need to find some good candidates to run against them in the general.
