Trump gun control, update post 529 Trump No Longer Backing “Red Flag” Law, Background Check Changes

I had the feeling last year that the deal made was if Kennedy retired, Kavanagh would be his heir. The guy is a shit judge, but the Democrats pulled the sex assault claims against him and put the Republicans into a corner where they felt bad for him because they knew it wasn't true.

For as much as the Republicans are the Do Nothing party, they're not willing to stoop as low as the Democrats do. I just wish some Republican legislator would say "enough is enough" with the sick Democrat party, snatch the gavel out of Nancy Pelosi's hand, and use it like Neegan uses the barbed wire baseball bat on Walking Dead to one of the Dem leaders in Congress.

Let it be a warning to the rest of them that if they want to pull those types of tactics, there's gonna be consequences and the consequences will be one of them will have their head smashed into a pulp.

Why is Kavanaugh a shit judge? His record on the 2nd Amendment suggests otherwise, so far.

Is Chris Cuomo an anti? If so its possible he's poking fun at his bullshit, but who knows.

Problem is trump has likely jerked off over ERPO too at this point, amongst other feel good anti bullshit like talking about banning suppressors, etc.

You are such an inspiration! We will need few different levels of bans!
Maybe well done ban for those young and crazy video players, medium ban for those honorably discharged young guns, and no ban for anchor babies?

Sorry I’m late on this, have been away for vacation. But yes, absolutely agree, first it’s this then it’s that and so on.

Stupid levels of special throughout society, not unlike the “cops can have this but you can’t” deal. I’m a cop and even I hate that stupidity. A lot of the cops I know shouldn’t be given sharp pencils never-mind special purchases that every other free American is excluded from. It’s insulting and only serves to create a divide that fosters anger and resentment.

Sorry your girl lost. I'm sure its news to you but the President doesn't make law. Anti-gun legislation doesn't get passed by the POTUS, it gets passed by the cucks in Congress. He can say whatever he wants, congress writes the law then votes to pass the law. I'm sure you knew that though with all of your voting and interaction with your congressmen.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Ackchyually, emailed and called my reps here in AZ this week.

ATF is currently revisiting their previous 5 determinations on pistol braces on direction of the POTUS. Trump 100% lost me when they banned bullshit ass bump stocks. What will it take? When they ban pistol braces? Ban suppressors? How many more constitutional violations are we going to chalk up to 4D chess?

Donald Trump Jr., the president’s son who often speaks with his father about his views on gun laws, has raised concerns about both red-flag legislation and about tightening background checks, according to people familiar with the matter.

“Don Jr. is my gun expert,” Mr. Trump told supporters at a fundraiser Friday in Bridgehampton, N.Y., according to one of the people familiar with the matter. “He knows more about guns than anyone I know.”

Campaign advisers asked White House officials for at least a week to gauge how various options—including background checks and taking no action—would fare among the president’s base of supporters before the administration decides on an official course of action, a person close to the White House said.

The White House has also heard from prominent conservatives around the country who have urged the president not to take any major action on guns."

Boston Globe:
The issue is certainly not video games, for pity’s sakes. Republican politicians and the bloviators on Fox News will tell you that “Call of Duty” and “Fortnite” are behind the carnage in El Paso and Dayton, the Gilroy Garlic Festival and the Poway synagogue in California. Do they understand how many millions of people play video games and don’t become mass murderers?
Do they understand how many millions of people own guns and don't become mass murderers??

I'm at a loss for why he would concede anything to these corksoakers , guns or otherwise after what they have tried to do to him since the day he was sworn in.
Hell even before that.
Not one damn person that voted for Hillary will EVER in a million years vote for him .
I don't care if he personally discovered the cure for cancer and an unlimited source of clean energy in the same week.

F*cking with the 2A is blatantly all risk and no reward for him. He has to know this.

Does he, though?

Does he really?

Maybe now we’ll find out how rational he really is.
Well he went out of his way to give gun owners a handjob pre-election. He didnt do that for nothing. He must of believed that was an important enough group of people to spend his time and money on. Unless his gun owning sons are total fudds and he thinks that leaving shotguns and hunting rifles alone will let him squeak through unscathed? I dont know.

The aftermath of the AWB was a kick in the teeth to a ton of politicians. Thats no secret. If I know that then he knows that.

He knows it.

The question is whether he thinks it’ll happen to him. He’s got that disturbing tendency to act like a teenager who believes he’s invincible. And he has been, so far. Sorta.

In Manchester last night President Trump said, “Together we will defend privacy, free speech, free assembly, religious liberty, and the right to keep and bear arms.”... emphasizing that last phrase he then paused to soak in the considerable applause before going on... “Above all we will never stop fighting for the values that bind us together as one America, we will support, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

I have no choice but to take him at his word but wish I knew where this guy from NYC sets his boundaries for defense of that “right to keep and bear arms”.

I fear his perimeter is not staked out far enough for the comfort of many here.

But hey he has surprised me before, I live in hope.

Steve Bannon was most responsible for getting Trump elected. Bannon understood we deplorables and how frustrated with politics as usual we were and how that could be leveraged into an election upset.

Jared and Ivanka couldn't wait to oust Bannon after the election as they didn't understand Trump's base or grasp Bannon was the key to Trump's win. At heart Trump is a NYC Democrat and I've pretty much come to accept Trump didn't really understand his base either. With his yuuge ego Trump thought the yuuge rallies were a response to him personally and not to what so many people hoped he represented.

Though way better than Hillary I think we've had 90% of all we're going to get out of Trump. It's all slipping away. You can feel it. I'm starting to wonder if Trump will win a second term. Many of the people who elected him will just stay home next year, I think.

I find that unlikely.... running on healthcare for illegals above Americans after Obamacare... won’t resonate well..
The entire platform of free stuff and socialism isn’t s winner yet and likely never will be.they will run out of other people money to give away long before we reach the utopia of rainbows and unicorns.

You may not be thinking about just how much Trump's trade war against China has f***ed the farm belt. Another year of it and those people will be voting D or staying home.

Bottom line it's really only a couple of million people in a half dozen swing states who elect the President.

I'm personally losing patience with stuff like this:

On May 5, (Trump) tweeted: “For 10 months, China has been paying Tariffs to the USA.

Have your trade war, dude, but be honest about who's paying.

I fear that's become just an applause line for him. Maybe it always was.

The other possibility, not unlikely for an ego the size of Trump's, is there's a catch that goes like this...We will defend the right to keep and bear arms...(the way I define that right).

I'm sure it's been said, but Trump pandering to the left on the 2A is not going to win him any votes. It will, however, cost him many on the right. You'll get a bunch of no shows just on this one issue alone.

This. The guy could cure cancer and the looney left will never vote for him, ever. But pass more intrusive gun laws and he loses what he needs for reelection. There have to be people around him that are drilling this into that thick skull. There has to be
