Remember what Mike Pompeo stated last week, Randi Weingarten is the most dangerous citizen/person in America. She and the Teacher's Unions have succeeded in brainwashing our kids along with the Academic Elitists in Colleges, into believing WE/the Country is a racist country that was founded on Slavery and conquest.

Look at all the media coverage of the Protests on Thanksgiving, they are trying to destroy Patriotism and frame anyone who is a Patriot as a right wing extremist. If you have college age kids or 30somethings schooled in/thru the public education system you know what I'm talking about.

They don't believe America is the greatest country in the World.

Maybe Elon Musk will save us!

NES should have a fear sniffer fingerprint button to log in with and if it pinged it would block you for 24hrs until you wipe the drip between your legs and regained your senses.

Three fear blocks in a week and you’re locked out for a month and given 5 tasks that must be conducted outdoors requiring sweat and fresh air.

This.

My students have zero problems sniffing out and rejecting extreme points of view, from either side.

I swear, some posters here seem to think kids are mindless drones with no thoughts of their own. They aren't. They've got very definite opinions and a healthy disrespect for arbitrary authority, even it it takes those 'til puberty to develop.

What do they all have in common- besides being some of the deadliest snipers in history? All are country boys and hunted extensively in their youth. Our nation remains chock full of such people, and pissing them off beyond a certain point would be a very bad idea.

IMHO if this were not the case we’d be a lot worse off right now. MSM does not show young people suspect of authority, young conservatives, or hardly any minorities who aren’t moonbats, because it doesn’t play into their fear porn marketing plans.

I was taking to my best friend's uncle when I was visiting him in South Carolina.
He said the boys here sit in a tree all day, in the pouring rain, just for a chance to shoot a deer.
What do you think would happen if you come for their guns or family?

This will happen here too. And we will all turn them in. At least I'm honest.
NO- not this.
Do you honestly believe that?

Do you realize there are millions of AR15's alone in the hands of Americans, let alone hunting rifles?

There is no possible way they could enforce a gun grab like that, they don't have the recourses or the stomach for that type of bullshit, not to mention some states would tell the government to F'K off let alone most gun owners
YES- this.

California has ~9X more 'registered guns' than does Massachusetts. I'd bet good money that after the latest AWB there are more Californians who went 'dark' than there are gun owners in Massachusetts.

Therein lies the problem. Control the message and everything else falls into place. Was having a beer with a friend the other night. He leans right for the most part. He works as a camera man for a major network news outlet. He sees all the behind the curtain shit. And I still had a hard time convincing him how corrupt the media is and how much influence it has. He thinks it would still be the way it is even if they didn’t report things the way they do. I had to shake my head and change the subject.

‘Cause they are being taught/exposed to some stuff that the leftist media considers fact vs extremism:

…62 percent reported either being taught in class or hearing from an adult in school that “America is a systemically racist country,” 69 percent reported being taught or hearing that “white people have white privilege,” 57 percent reported being taught or hearing that “white people have unconscious biases that negatively affect non-white people,” and 67 percent reported being taught or hearing that “America is built on stolen land.

It’s not clear whether taught/heard answers are “indoctrination” or just education about issues and perspective in all/some cases - the Right has an axe to grind too in conducting surveys. I’ll have to see if the data are available to review online.

That said, I have little faith that most students are being presented with unbiased/alternative perspectives vs biased/one-sided stories. I’m sure it varies region-to-region, state-to-state, district-to-district, school-to-school, teacher-to-teacher. The lack of uniformity in education is considered a fault by the left, while the right should consider it a feature - no US Secretary of Education should call the shots at state and local levels.

I cannot put myself in the mind of a K-12 student, as my formative years were four TV stations, a few newspapers & magazines and school and face-to-face friends, community, parents, church - no massive internet & social media where one can refine your input bubble to confirm and deepen your beliefs. What do you see wrt how kids pick their sources?

Am Assoc Educators surveys don’t give me a warm & fuzzy feeling on the matter. The 1619 Project went deep cover after initial outcry on their work with the Pulitzer Center’s mass dissemination of a 1619 curriculum.

Less than half of respondents (44.7%) are in favor of CRT being an option for educators. Only 11% believe CRT should be required or mandated.

Survey respondents by an almost three to one margin (60.4% vs 21.2%) believe the media is paying too much attention to CRT, with an even higher percentage of survey participants (78 %) agreeing outside factors, including sensationalized headlines are interfering with a productive and necessary discussion regarding race in America

This. It's important to remember this when making the generalizations I so often see on NES. The claim that Randi Weingarten somehow determines what gets taught to "American schoolchildren" makes me laugh. It shows that the person saying it has no idea how schools really work.

I have no idea what gets taught in the next town, let alone the next state. As you say, that's a feature, not a bug.

When I bring this up in class (I mostly teach juniors and seniors), they uniformly tell me they never watch the news nor read the papers nor visit MSM websites. To the extent my students follow the news at all, they do so based on what gets curated on Instatwitbookgramtok. I'm seeing the same trend among new hires, as well: younger teachers disregard legacy media outlets, too.

"Big Media" is an important boogeyman on the right, but it leaves young people unaffected except insofar as it's able to get its views platformed on those apps. So they're getting their news in the same truncated, self-selected fashion many posters here do.

Which is a double-edged sword, I think.

You're teaching HS kids who are more interested in getting laid and scoring a Six pack, I'm talking about 20, 30, 40 something highly educated leftists who have been brainwashed by their "educators" and vote. You don't think Ma./NY/NJ/CA, etc. are the epicenters of the Leftist agenda?

Try being a Conservative and attempt to give a speech on a college campus that goes against the Leftist agenda.

What would happen if a Leftist speaker was shouted down by a bunch of MAGA Republicans?

Walk onto the campus of BU, BC, Harvard, Emerson, Clark, Smith, UMASS, Mt. Holyoke, Williams with a MAGA hat on or attempt to set up a Republican/Conservative Club and tell me how that works out.

Ask Ann Coulter, Ben Shapiro, David Horowitz, etc. how they were received on college campuses.

Who do you think voted for the likes of Dementia Joe, Liawatha, Danang Dick, AOC, Omar, and organized the RESIST campaign etc.

Who organized the internal coup against Trump?

Who believes Abortion is a RIGHT?

Who believes the 1st and 2nd Amendment are archaic, and the Constitution was written by a bunch of Wealthy White Slave owners?

Who do you think run CNN, MSNBC, NYT's, Boston Globe, Washington Post, Bank of America, Disney, Coca-Cola, Blackrock, Citibank, etc.

Who runs Boston, NYC, Detroit, Chicago, Baltimore, Minneapolis, LA, SF, Philly, etc. where the majority of the population elect Leftists who scream racism and White Supremacy 24/7?

The Leftists own the Media, Higher Education, most Major Corporations, and now the Military which by my observations means WE are fighting a losing battle.

THEY don't need to kick your door in, again Trudeau and the CCP have demonstrated the power of the State.

Leftists drool at what Trudeau is accomplishing in Canada, stamping out free speech, protests, controlling the media and banning HATE speech, banning firearms, etc.

Since I lived thru and still remember the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 9/11, etc. and used to be a far left brainwashed liberal Democrat the change in the country is dramatic.

How else to explain the collapse of the "Red Wave" of 2022? The Media convinced many voters Democracy and abortion were under assault from Right Wing Extremists, MEGA MAGA Americans and we and Donald Trump are the enemy not Putin, Xi, Antifa, Anarchists, BLM, black violent felons, the Cartels, illegal immigration, etc.

They believe fossil fuels are more of a threat to their existence than the CCP and the PLA. Pure brainwashing by our Academic Elites and the Dem party.

Critical thinking is dead in Academia and replaced with mindless obedience to the Leftist agenda and it ain't changing anytime soon.

That is All!

I got my AS when I was older.. I think 27 years old. Anyway, I can remember being in a history class with a few other ancient students and we couldn't believe how retarded a lot of the class was with the hot take stuff. The teacher was close to our age... I don't think she could believe it either. [rofl]

When I got my BA the hot take thing was toned down a lot. But the average age of the students was also significantly older than what I was around in community college land.

The indoctrination starts with Leftist, liberal teachers in the Public schools which are controlled by the Leftist Teachers Unions IMHO and Weingarten controls those Unions and the majority of teachers are leftist women.
What subjects do you teach?

Well, big MSM is slowly dying but those kids parents, a lot of them either have constant Faux or DemSNBC , maybe some Crescent News garbage blaring in their house at random
hours. I don't really understand how people can torture themselves with that shit. It's the same fear porn bullshit over and over again. I mean Faux has a few cookies of substance
or entertainment here and there but even that... blech. Jingocon armflapping is almost as nauseating as the moonbats version of the same. At leas faux had to give up its "all jingocons, all the time" programming formats because it was forced to by Trump et al.

The best part about going to Vegas for a week and a half was I didn't see any of that shit, anywhere. The only thing displayed on TVs anywhere was sportsball stuff. It's not like TV Nooz is telling me anything that we didint know.

Social studies.

As importantly, I've been in the union for almost 20 years. In that time, I've seen zero evidence that the union has controlled anything I or my fellow teachers have brought up in the classroom. Administrators do that.

I'm glad you included the "IMHO," because my observed experience in a liberal school, in a liberal state, under many administrators and many union officials, over many years, differs completely from your humble opinion. Take that for whatever it's worth.

As I've stated they won't need to kick in your door or raid your house, they'll have access to govt. records, credit card receipts, internet clicks and purchases, etc.
They can wait you out, starve you out, confiscate your assets, etc.
No more Ruby Ridge or Waco's, unless you live off the grid they can destroy you with a few keystrokes.

Yup. I’m worried sick about my kids in public school but my oldest is in middle school and she and almost all the kids ain’t having it. The shit she tells me…we would never get away with in school. A lot of these teachers (strong independent women) are to weak to command control of a classroom. It’s easier to try and brainwash them with BS and kindness. It’s good to see young adolescents standing up for themselves when they know what is actually not part of the learning process.

So how do you explain the Leftist agenda and the persecution of parents who object to that curriculum by Dem Pols and the DOJ?

Didn't the Teachers Union write a letter to the DOJ asking for investigation of parents who showed up at PTA Meetings to object to critical race theory and queer/homosexual curriculum and didn't the FBI open an investigation?

Didn't DeSantis get crucified by Teacher's Unions and Dems for pushing back on their sexual curriculum?

Picton, I don't know where you teach and I'm not calling you out, I'm glad you teach in a somewhat reasonable school system but I have to say it's not the norm in the country from what I've read and heard.

I'm sure you'd be real popular with the Admin and your fellow Teachers if you placed TRUMP 2024 stickers on your car or a Glock sticker on your window. [rofl]

Sounds like what Australia did decades ago by banning all centerfire semi-auto rifles.
rifles and pistols. yep. any centerfire weapon with rifled barrel.
as only gestapo forces should be allowed to have weapons capable to hit anything accurately at 50/100+ yards. the more oppressive any regime becomes - more aggressively it disarms the population.

Why would I do that? A teacher putting a Trump campaign sticker in the window would be just as bad as a teacher putting a Biden one there. No thank you.

We have kids wearing Trump shirts and MAGA hats. During the zoom lessons a couple years ago, we had kids with Trump flags on the cameras. Nobody cares all that much. They certainly don't get persecuted. Sorry if that conflicts with your narrative, but I'd tell you what I've always told NES' education critics: come on in and observe a school anytime. Call your local principal, get yourself CORI'd, and come with an open mind. I suspect it might not be what you think it'll be.

Or? Keep on giving your opinion. I'll take my observations over that.

As for the rest of your post? Sorry. I don't pay any attention to the federal DOE (no teacher does), and as little as possible to the DESE. They produce curriculum every ten years or so, like they always have, and we look at it, take what we can use, and ignore the rest. But make NO mistake: if curriculum fails to get taught, that's 100% on the administrators and the teachers, not on the union. I really do think you have no idea what the union actually does, but that's okay. You shouldn't want to be involved with it. Even most of those of us who are in it, often don't like it.

i can tell from my own kids - it is true, but, they still are extremely naive and they are born and bred in the country that is mostly very kind and good to them.

they have not developed yet enough distrust and life experience for not to trust no one who is in the position of power. some of them never age and learn that - those become whom we know as liberals, others may learn a thing or 2... but it all takes time and certain life lessons.
