Trouble in Taunton, MA

I live in the next town. I'm not familiar with the dam but know of it's approx location. I think it's near the old Reed and Barton Factory. It's about 2 miles or so from downtown Taunton.

Editted: make that 1 mile as the crow flies. I was thinking about driving it.

I have a good friend who lives in Taunton.

I certainly hope for the best! I'll try to get in touch with him a bit later today.

I am thinking about doing some looting, get the jump on people that are already on the way there from OH and LA.If questioned I will emphatically state that luuee farakun said it was ok and even though I am a white man,I must loot because the feelings of white guilt must be overcome at any and all costs.

I will then blame bush for the dam overflowing because bush's grandpa actually worked on the dam and sabotaged it so this will happen.

Then I will get MY hurrican debit card and buy lots of guns and ammo to be more prepared for the next looting.

If ya can't beat 'em,join 'em.

Why wait? Think of it as a proactive response. Who wants to have to slog through all that water trying to carry a 62" plasma TV? [wink]

I live in the next town. If the dam goes, I hope everyone in the area gets a $2,000 debit card from FEMA.

I plan to spend my $2,000 in a gun shop.

I spoke with a good friend (and gun owner) who lives in E. Taunton. He told me that he's a "softball throw" away from the dam.

He also said that unlike other areas, the local government has setup and prepared in case it ruptures and are doing what they can to try to mitigate the consequences. As he said, "at least they are trying" instead of just wringing their hands.

We'll have to keep our fingers crossed that the dam holds and they can repair it enough to withstand any further rain from the hurricane that might impact us (rain) next week.

I hear Kennedy and Kerry are visiting the site today.

I hope that they don't have an accident and slip and fall into that raging river...

Hmm. If Kerry were to fall in, would Teddy run to the nearest Bar?
Barney Frank was there too! They all stroked each other and Kerry sounded like he was running for Prez again. I happened to be listening to the news conf when Kerry was talking about legislation he and the drunk are proposing to infuse $$$ for fuel assistance. Listening to it, I was like what the hell does high fuel prices have to do with a damn dam. Then I came to reality, oh ya, it's that asswipe looser, Kerry speaking.

I guess that on the news this morning. They are saying that they brought in HUGE pumps to take the water upstream and deposit it farther down stream. Then that should drop the water enought that they can repair the timbers that are rotting.

And, I guess that 75% of the cost is going to be covered by federal aid.

Like my buddy said, at least they are doing something that might help, not just standing by, wringing their hands and blaming the President for their woes. It's refreshing to see the difference!

All for a privately owned damn that is obsolete and of no use. I hope the Federal funds are recovered from the owners like they do at Superfund sites.

Well, it's Taunton, so this isn't surprising. Especially the cover-up.

"His service revolver was confiscated when he was placed on administrative leave. "

REVOLVER? I doubt that.

No, I'm pretty sure that Taunton is using those new-fangled Glock semi-automatic revolvers these days.

Ah, yes; probably the famous ".9 mm" ones with the "triple safety" that we keep reading about in virtually every story involving an AD while drawing or holstering. Otherwise known as Gaston Glock's contribution to Natural Selection.

And they say Austrians don't have a sense of humor...... [wink]

Dang dam

Don't they go through this with the same dam every year ?

Its like trying to get a redneck to fix a leaky roof. You can't fix it when it's raining and when it's not raining there ain't no need to fix it.
