Barney Frank was there too! They all stroked each other and Kerry sounded like he was running for Prez again. I happened to be listening to the news conf when Kerry was talking about legislation he and the drunk are proposing to infuse $$$ for fuel assistance. Listening to it, I was like what the hell does high fuel prices have to do with a damn dam. Then I came to reality, oh ya, it's that asswipe looser, Kerry speaking.Chris said:I hear Kennedy and Kerry are visiting the site today.
I hope that they don't have an accident and slip and fall into that raging river...
Hmm. If Kerry were to fall in, would Teddy run to the nearest Bar?
LenS said:I spoke with a good friend (and gun owner) who lives in E. Taunton. He told me that he's a "softball throw" away from the dam.
He also said that unlike other areas, the local government has setup and prepared in case it ruptures and are doing what they can to try to mitigate the consequences. As he said, "at least they are trying" instead of just wringing their hands.
We'll have to keep our fingers crossed that the dam holds and they can repair it enough to withstand any further rain from the hurricane that might impact us (rain) next week.

I guess that on the news this morning. They are saying that they brought in HUGE pumps to take the water upstream and deposit it farther down stream. Then that should drop the water enough that they can repair the timbers that are rotting.
And, I guess that 75% of the cost is going to be covered by federal aid.
All for a privately owned damn that is obsolete and of no use. I hope the Federal funds are recovered from the owners like they do at Superfund sites.C-pher said:And, I guess that 75% of the cost is going to be covered by federal aid.
KMaurer said:No, I'm pretty sure that Taunton is using those new-fangled Glock semi-automatic revolvers these days.
