I just want to remind all treestand hunters to check the straps and bolts on their stands before climbing up. I put up two treestands on private property that I have permission and hunted for years. Before climbing up on opening day, I examined the stand from below with a flashlight and both straps, on both stands, had been carefully sliced most of the way through. An accident waiting to happen. Funny how these folks think shooting a deer is inhumane, but are perfectly willing to see someones wife, husband, son or daughter, fall from a stand and be[frown] maimed or killed. Please, everyone check your stands EVERY TIME you use them.

AllieCAt, Sounds like its time to put up a couple of trail cams to get pics of these people. I would be inclined to call the police and at least get a paper trail going. Good luck this season. And to add, I have had trouble with stands being stolen in the past now I hunt out of a climber. Even on private, posted property.

Thats messed up! My inlaws always have people tresspassing on there property and hunting so they just take the tree stands down and keep them ( Thats not stealing since they were left on there property).

I would have a very hard time refraining from beating the everliving shit out of someone if I caught them doing that. Why not just go cut the brake lines on their car? F***ing morons.

Trail cam security

I just purchased one of those heavy steel containers for my trail cam, that basically make them almost impossible to steal. I will be setting it up today. To say I was a bit angry when I saw what had been done, is an understatement. I do have an idea of who might be responsible as the person has been spoken to and charged in the past by law enforcement on numerous hunter harassment issues. I just need the proof. If it is indeed the same person, that person can and will be prosecuted. Thanks for all of your suggestions. I meant this post just as a reminder for folks who use tree stands. Have a safe and successful hunting season!

Good! That borders on attempted murder in my book. Also, I hope that the "can and will be prosecuted" thing goes for whoever it is, same person or not.

Yup the antis have been busy , another stunt is to take the lower section of your treestand and and leave the top half in the tree. I had that happen to opne of my favorite stands on public land. The solution was buy another $69 tree stand and weld all three sections together. We really need a season on Tree Huggers in this state.
