Greetings,

I will have to travel to Pawtuckett to visit a gunsmith this Saturday. I have MA class A and NH non-resident.
What are the laws regarding carrying concealled while passing through RI under MA license?
What about carrying a rifle? Does it have to be stored per ma law - in a locked container?

Thanks,

Andrew.

You cannot carry concealed in RI unless you have a RI permit -- your MA LTC is not honored by RI.

I'm not familiar with that part of RI law. I assume that unloaded, in a locked case in the trunk is acceptable, but hopefully someone more familiar with RI law will chime in.

The NRA has this on their web site:

RHODE ISLAND--A permit is required to transport a handgun. There are three exceptions to this requirement: (1) A person licensed to carry in another state may transport a handgun during an uninterrupted journey across the state; (2) A person may carry without a permit an unloaded, securely wrapped, and, if possible, broken down handgun to and from a target range; or (3) An individual can transport a handgun, under the previous conditions, without a permit during a change of residence.
