My grandfather recently passed, and he owned 2 colt .38s. They were not specificaally willed to anyone. Everyone in the family knows they were to come to me, and eveyone is ok with that. The problem is that since he is no longer living, he cannot walk in and have them FFl-ed to me here in VA. Since they are part of his estate, can the excutor (my father) bring them to the shop to have them transfered, or my cousin since he is a city cop?

We'd like to do this all on the up-and-up, but also want it to go as seemlessly as possible. Virginia is the easy part, NYC is the hard part.

Thanks for any and all help you can offer.

Federally, the executor gets them to the FFL which does the transfer if there is no specific provision in the will for xfer to you. NYC? Good ****ing luck with the state laws. Check with the local FFL but I don't see the xfer out of state via FFL is an issue.
