There are two guns available to me, free of charge, but the issue is that the previous owner's LTC has expired, so technically he no longer lawfully possesses the guns. How do I go about getting these transferred from him to me with no one getting in trouble?
Thanks

FFL only. You have to escort him and the guns to a dealer, when they can be transferred to you.

Well, the obvious caveat is that if the guns in question are handguns, then there is the compliance BS to deal with, which varies between MA
dealers. If it's just a rifle or shotgun then the dealer just takes it in and then transfers them to the person with the valid LTC.

Location
Eastern Mass and southern NH
I was always curious about these types of transfers. Could you expand on this please?
Not giving legal advice, but assuming that you are in Mass and not knowing what the guns are, the roster or the AG regs or the AWB could rear their ugly heads. Check out the stickies on this subject. Jack.
