Is it written in law anywhere that an AG permit allows you to walk same day with the gun (given that it is paid for of course and that the NICS check was a proceed) as is the case with the Town permit? Would love to know some information on this as I work at a store now and we have yet to find anywhere in written law that allows the transfer of a gun to a AG permit holder on the same day. We even went to several police stations and they said it is considered a "grey" area and would not write anything on paper for us saying it would be ok to release guns to an AG permit holder without waiting the seven days. Anyone with any info?

Nope, there are some nameless stores that will, but they are on their own perril. As well, I would not receive a firearm without serving the wait with a permit from the AG.

***§ 11-47-35.1**Persons exempt from § 11-47-35. – The provisions of § 11-47-35 shall not apply to full-time members of the state police, full-time members of the state marshal's office, full-time members of city or town police departments, or state marshals or correctional officers or persons licensed under § 11-47-11.

Yes, Plumber is correct. It 11-47-18 was left out of 11-47-35.1 and 11-47-35.2 which seems to have been a mistake since 11-47-18 also applies to retired police officers. One would assume that a permit holder from the AG's office would not need the cool period any more than a permit holder from a city or town. The assumtion would be a permit holder most likely owns a handgun.
Plumber is also correct that there are some FFL's that feel the same way and have been verbally told that it applies to both sections, but nothing in writing.

We need to get this changed.[thinking]

The statute is not flawed, let's not try to get the General Assembly involved in this, they screw up everything they touch. When this was written it was assumed that 'Joe Citizen' had a permit issued by his town, not the AG. 11-47-18 was written to authorize the AG to permit his croneys, and to permit those who needed to open carry, like security guards. Our laws aren't the best, but far from bad. The big problem is RI is a shall issue state, and we have a bunch of police chiefs that have a flagerent ignorance/disreguard for our laws. The way to make things better is not through the legeslature, but through the courts. We need to start making these chiefs follow the law, and issue permits like 11-47-11 obligates them to.
