Yay - another Millennials thread!

6. Running

Last year, The Wall Street Journal informed us millennials were ruining the sport of running. Despite being the largest living generation and traditionally the largest share of runners, 18-to-34-year-olds made up only 33% runners in 2015 and 35% the year earlier, according to a study from industry-funded research group Running USA. This decline comes despite a peak in 2013, when the number of runners reached an all-time high of 19 million. Instead of continuing its increase as expected, the numbers plunged. Thanks a lot, millennials.
Mountain biking, too. Most of us are 40+, with a new cohort of pre-teens and teens (and early 20s) coming up now. Not many in that notch in between.

I'd be willing to bet there aren't many Millennial gardeners, either.

And while there are exceptions, it seems like as a rule they eschew the REAL for the VIRTUAL.

Great, what am I responsible for this time? How else have I inconvenienced the old farts?
[popcorn]

My take always:
Less sex and relationships? Yeah well the risk of getting accused of rape after consensual sex is pretty high in this #metoo environment. Thank god I found the future Mrs. Revan when I did.

We’re killing vacations and homeownership? Well yeah, how the f*** are we supposed to afford them? Mountains of debt for most already and housing prices stupid high, where are we going to go? If I owned a house two years ago I would have never been able to afford my Disney trip (talk about another overpriced place millennials won’t let die). And people bidding $30k over asking for f***ing shoeboxes aren’t helping things either.
I have no idea how we’re going to afford one without getting our bid unless we move to north bumf*** where there aren’t any jobs. Housing market needs a reset bad.

Diamonds? Hell she won’t likely be there in 6 months the way most relationships are going these days and you can’t afford it in the first place so why bother? Not like they can tell the difference between a real one and CZ 😜

It funny how all the companies want to market to millennials, I don't think they have any money on average.
They also killed Motorcycles, average kid today does not ride bicycles

Wait. So in paragraph 1 they go to restaurants more but in Point #2 (or 3), they don't go on dinner dates. Ummmmm. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . OK. Maybe they don't go to high-priced restaurants as often because they are young and poor.

Cruises - sure. All-you-can-drink and no chance of a DUI??? Sign them up!

Soap covered in germs. . . . . ummmm. . . . I don't even know what to say. I've seen it written before. But maybe the people that believe it. . . don't know how soap works????

And with them embracing PornHub like it was their first-born, it's clear they don't want sex. Sex is messy, relationally. (And other ways - hubba-hubba). It requires work.

Hell, I remember reading about how the trend was going to be for less and less sex because of online porn 12-15 years ago. John Mayer talked in an interview that he'd rather turn on his PC and foodle himself than go see his hot girlfriend. WTF??????

I don't get on the "Millenials are morons" bandwagon too often - because all generations are equally stupid and lazy. But DAMN! Just DAMN! THIS proves generational stupidity. You can have your avocado toast. But hot sex not-by-yourself is pretty damned amazing.

And given the Moto-morons that have gotten in front of me lately, (I guess it's hard for Geezer to start his motorcycle from a dead stop. Sucks for him. Will suck more when he pulls out in front of someone not paying attention and creams him all over the road.) I'm 100% AOK with them killing motorcycles.

5. Napkins

Millennials are giving up the paper napkin, with 86% saying they are opting instead to use a paper towel as a napkin at the dinner table according to a 2016 study from market research company Mintel. The good news: Experts say the paper towel’s ability to clean up messes make it a more versatile and economical choice, especially as fewer millennials eat dinner at home.
This one I agree with. We use papertowels at my place for everything. If we have napkins around it's because someone gave us a stack with takeout.

Average kid doesnt ride bicycles?

Maybe they are not outside riding cheap Walmart bikes, but the mountainbike industry seems to be blowing up right now. There are hundreds of manufacturers, and a decent mtb starts at $1K+.

My gf’s family uses napkins with every meal. And they give me a hard time about being wasteful when I’d rather just use a paper towel instead of a plate for pizza. It’s a plate AND a napkin.

Some of the items on that list deserve to die off. Others are just technological advancement and the fact that millennials are quicker to embrace new concepts.

It would be comical if this list was juxstaposed to the greatest generation vs baby boomers. You'd see things like "baby boomers responsible for killing off ice boxes and dirigibles".

after all, millennials will soon be the power generation and their time is coming soon as the generations before them age themselves into the sunset. just common sense and good business to start targeting them. doesn't make you special, you're just the ones spending the money.

i use paper towels also and i dig a decent bottle of wine with a screw on top.

Mrs.Luck told me long ago she hates diamonds because of the blood, and the hoarding of diamonds by DeBeers causing the prices to be so high. We wear platinum and hers has a ruby.

I still want to ride a motorcycle but on the list of things I want and can’t afford yet, it’s down the list a bit. Maybe if I wasn’t buying so many cool guns...
There is no sensation in life like riding a moto. You don't turn a moto so much as powerslide it around a corner. You get this delicious velcro sensation between you and the road. It's not for nervous people who make bad decisions under stress, though. If you're not calm they will bite you. You should totally do it, just be sure to take the classes.

Race wars, generation wars, all the same BS.
I know many useless millenials.
I know many useless gen x'ers (my gen)
I know many useless boomers
I've known many useless silent generation (they're mostly all dead).

On the flip side- I know many of all that are quite the opposite.
Same with race. I know may useless and hard working people of all races.
This is just media and gov't stirring up the pot to get us to hate each other.
