To those saying Stewart "stomped on it" or "goosed the throttle" think about the proximity of the recording device to the accident scene. My guess is the person taking the video doesn't have a parabolic microphone on his 'handy cam'. Instead, it recorded another driver much closer to the camera.

Can't say. Seems kinda stupid to try and stop a car with your body tho.

It looked like the car in front of Stewart's checked up hard, as Ward moved closer towards their inside line. That looks to have caught Stewart off-guard, and him running wide.

here we go. I know the homeowner said it was a self defense shooting but I hope they found out that he shot him on purpose and lock him up. Sound familiar?

Holy crap. It is hard to say that is was on purpose though. You don't expect a driver to get out of his car and walk into the middle of the track. That was a darwin award move. Plus a lot of cars were passing right before he hit him. Tragic.

The great drivers, which he is from a driving standpoint, usually have the same sponsor for their career. He has been through many sponsors and teams and finally had to create his own team because no one else wanted to touch him.

What do you think happened then? Let me guess. It's entirely the kids fault by running onto the track? [rolleyes]

Because Tony Stuart he is a hot headed cowardly punk.
For those who cant understand why the driver got out of the car, you cant possibly be race fans, this is very common and in the early days it was not unusual for there to be a fist fight right after an accident.

Something else that has not been mentioned is there are spotters that are in constant contact with the drivers letting them know what is going on everywhere on the track.

By the reaction of the "first responder", it appears it was quite a traumatic head injury. I'm speculating, among other things, broken neck from being pulled and contorted. Terrible all around.

    Shit happens.

    It was a racing accident.

Gotta love NES CSI armchair detectives.

He didn't create anything. He was given half the Haas organization in return for coming to drive there. Knowing sponsors would follow him. And they did.

Not in this current economic situation. That's all I'm saying.

Roush ties up long term contracts for the most part. Childress will always have his core. And Menards money.
48 is mid career with a ton of metal on the shelf. We will see when the depot leaves. If Lowe's stays.
24 lost DuPont as a full year sponsor.

Are you telling me the home depot was going to leave Gibbs because of him?

He absolutely knew the kid was on the track. Lets just get that out of the way for starters. It's like the OJ fan club here...

Not to mention Stewart is a millionaire and probably has a pretty good life, I know he's been known to have a temper and whatnot, but I doubt he's gonna go trying to kill someone on the track.

Why not pull over, double park, hit the flashers, play a quick game of Parcheesi, exchange insults, and then have at it?

Have any of you ever been to a dirt sprint car event?

It's funny I see 5 common posters in the NASCAR thread....the rest seem to have no clue.

Looks like an accident to me. Poor lighting, slippery track and hard to control those things in the element. Don't think it's TS's fault but wouldn't get out of the car and walk across the track either. I don't follow NASCAR either. But on purpose? Highly doubtful.

Stewart is a douche and shouldn't be in racing. If I had to put $$ on a driver running someone over on purpose it'd be Stewart. That said, retard was playing with fire by getting out of his car and getting in front of other cars while pissed off. Angle and video quality is crap, no way to be 100% certain he did it on purpose.

He broke a safety rule and paid the price. You stay in the car unless it's on fire, pretty much the first rule of safety after you wreck it. I used to crew for a friend who raced 360 sprints, and they'd suspend you from quite a few of the tracks we raced at for getting out of a car without a damn good reason. Too many fights.

Quite rare. Might see those on the 410 outlaw circuit (Or whatever it is called now) but I am not sure. We used to get hand-me-downs from a guy who raced 410's and had boatloads of sponsor $, and I know he and his crew didn't. Most sprint car tracks are probably to small for coms to be real effective.
