I have to say, in all my years in the Army and all my time shooting, I've never seen anyone hold a rifle that way.

Does the Army even shoot 200 yards standing?

What the heck does 200 yards have to do with anything? Did you pull that number out of your butt, or did I miss something in the post?

That's what I was practing for, the 200 yard standing. Every high power shooter shoots standing like that. Hold the rifle like they taught you in the Army and see how many times you can hit a 10" circle at 200 yards.

Then hold it like I am and see how many times you can hit it... [thinking]

Why are Marines always so grumpy. Not scoring high enough on the ASVAB to join another branch shouldn't sour your mood for the rest of your life.

I merely said I've never seen anyone hold a rifle like that.

For the record genius, the Marines require a higher score to get in.

Secondly I joined the Marines because of family history and it is the hardest.

It was your last post that soured my grapes. "Did you pull that number out of your butt?"

Maybe it was that tough "7 week" boys camp you Army guys call "basic" that is clouding your mind...

When I was watching all the .22 bullseye shooters, that's how they hold those oversized .22s.

I tried that, but my thumb is double jointed and it over extends. So the guy at my club said that I would have to figure out another way to hold it... He's got some handle that goes under the stock. It looks like a horseshooe with a handle in the middle.

That's if I ever were to shoot bullseye.

And, all those Olympic summer game shooters, they all do it the same way. At least that's how they were doing it on Shooting USA.

It looks uncomfortable.

They POST a higher required score, but in fact you can get in with a 25. I'm sorry the Marines was all you could get.

Marine boot camp HAS to be longer. You guys don't learn as fast. Special Ed of the Armed Forces.

Perhaps if you'd POSTED the distance you were shooting, I wouldn't have had to guess at it.

Why do I even bother? Wanna compare paychecks if I'm suck a f**king rock?

Oh jeez, here comes the "I make more than you so I'm a bigger man" argument. Usually a sure sign of an inferiority complex. Something they teach you in Marine Boot Camp to help you sleep at night.

If you'd like to compare paychecks, I'll lose. If you want to compare income earned, I'm very comfortable comparing that.

I'm surprised I'm smart enough to even post in here. I mean I'm just a stupid Marine who really wanted to get in to the Army but I was too much of a rock to do it.[hmmm]

Now that you have the tiger's attention, how are you going to deal with his teeth?

Tread carefully, Army of One.

Yeah. I've never been too keen with that whole "Army of One" crap. Usually I bring Johnny with me so we're an "Army of Two".

I'm beginning to think they Teach "Busting the Balls of Marines 101" in Army basic. Martlet scored perfectly on the exam. [wink]

No harm no foul.

I think they teach "Busting Balls of Marines" in every branch's basic. When I worked with the squids, they were quite adept at it. They even had all the acronyms worked out.

Mod Hat On!

Children, take a "time out" in your corners!

Knock off the personal attacks, and yes I consider one branch of service attacking another branch of service to be a "personal attack"! Damn, you all fight for ONE FLAG, be proud of it and all your Brothers and Sisters who fight beside you. Knock off the "barroom brawl" insults . . . and remember in MA, one barroom brawl with fists = lose your Constitutional Rights to self defense for life!

Very seriously, I recently left a LE forum after one MSP Trooper kept attacking every other "branch" of LE out there. The Admin/Mods let it go on and on and on . . . When this joker attacked a Fed LE, I had had enough and let the owner and Mods of said forum know that "I was gone" and why. It makes for a very unpleasant environment. Please Let's NOT do that here!

Thank you for your consideration of the other almost 900 of us here.

What a hoot. Martlet, the Army doesn't teach Marksmanship. Why? I don't know. They do teach shooting quick, spray and pray, and emphasis is on Prone.

The Marines teach marksmanship, and he was using a correct standing position. I shot Smallbore for a couple years, and was taught to shoot like that.

Now, before you start to bust my balls, remember my background, and which branch of service I'm from (and still am).
