First, I get promoted to Lt. and get a gold badge from my security company. Second, I finally get my schedule to start training some of these guys. And third, and most importantly...

I found my wedding ring!!!

I can't believe I found it. The last I saw it was in Groton at an event. This afternoon, I picked up dirty sheets in the corner of the bedroom, and there is was, laying on the floor underneath them. Don't ask me how it got there - I haven't clue one. Nothing from Groton was even NEAR that corner. I'm soooooooo happy.

YAYYYYY- but that means I have to return that metal detector I bought you for Christmas... [wink]

Um...well, if it's over 30 days on the receipt, you might not be able to return it hun, so, gee, just to help ya out, I'll still act surprised when I open it.

[lol] [lol] [lol]

Congratulations on both counts!

Rings roll and thus can end up anywhere! Neither my Wife or I ever remove our rings, the best way to avoid this kind of problems.

There is a hidden message there, a more frequent cleanup may be useful and yield surprises on a more frequent basis. [lol] [lol] [lol]

Congrats Lynne happy to hear ya found your ring, now tie a string from the ring to your wrist so this does not happen again.

Or just put it back on the floor, at least you'll know its safe there. [lol]

Lynne,

Congrats on your find. It gives me hope.

Can you look again in that corner and see if you can find a size 12 gold band with heavy engraving in the form of a Hawaiian Plumaria and other flora?

Similar to this, but a lot more carving detail and no black bands:

I lost my original wedding ring somewhere on the grounds of the Mass Maritime Academy in August of 2001 during the Pan Mass Challenge.

Pretty much given up hope at this point, but your magic ring wormhole gave me hope.

I got my replacement ring in Titanium and gold from This Site and I've been very happy with it. I have to admit, the Ti ring is a lot more comfortable. (it's very thin) Still, I miss the original that we had made in Hawaii.

Was it you Lynne who posted about losing a ring in the summer?
Congrats on all 3 points!

Yup - that was me. :D

And Len? It wasn't from lack of cleaning - since I have 4 or 5 sets of sheets, I'll wait for 3 or 4 changes before I run a load of them (saves energy, ya know? [wink] ) That sheet pile started after Groton, and I don't remember seeing it in the corner when I put the first change of sheets there.

I've tried to figure out how it got there. Yes, it could have fallen out and rolled, but I find that one difficult to go with. I'm not questioning why - I'm just happy I found it. :D :D :D

Tuesday I got my new glasses prescription ordered... as my optometrist says, they're not bifocals, they're multifocal. [roll] OK, I kinda knew that was coming.

But yesterday, my audiologist gives me the four words no shooter wants to hear: noise induced hearing loss. [cry] [cry]

I'm afraid to go to Lodge tonight. It's not been a good week so far.

Get used to it. I've been aroung BIG guns (155mm and 8 inch) for quite some time. You lose hearing eventually.

Ross, look at the bright side: now you have a really good excuse if you don't respond when your wife yells for you.

No, No it doesn't. Trust me those of us that play with the toys we have,or work in high noise environments do eventually suffer for it. We all get there. [lol]

Yeah, but the doc verified it so he's got an out for the "selective hearing". :D

Ross hun, I'm sorry. I know you're bummin. Listen - pick up some of them marshmallows and stick them in your ears before you put your ears on. That will help to reduce it even more and stave off it getting worse.

Knowing it's going to happen and having it happen are two whole different things. And there's not a damn thing I can do about it except keep wearing muffs and plugs to keep it from getting worse.

I even know what did it: most of a decade of riding a bike without hearing protection. I just didn't know any better! Once I did know, I started wearing them... but it looks like it came too late.

I'm just little bummed at the moment. I'll get over it eventually... but I'm just not a happy dwarf right now.

Hey, Dwarf, keep in mind that a touch of hearing loss is better than a daily kick in the nuts.
