Both of the men killed during an alleged South Knox County home burglary Sunday night had criminal records, according to the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities on Tuesday identified the second man killed as Adam Peiffer, 25, of Knoxville.

Peiffer has a criminal history in Knox and Blount counties that includes charges of drunken driving, driving on a suspended license, drug possession, violation of probation and criminal impersonation, said KCSO spokeswoman Martha Dooley.

The Sheriff's Office previously had identified Jimmy Cannon, 39, of Knoxville as the other man killed in the shooting. Cannon had no local record, but his criminal history included an armed robbery conviction and drug-related charges in Georgia, Dooley said.

The alleged burglars were shot by Douglas Jordan III, 21, who had lived at the Love Lane trailer for a month, the landlord said.

"He said he didn't know either one of them," Dooley said.

Both men were dressed in black, one with a ski mask, while the other wore a bandana over his face, she said.

"According to officers, the men were burglarizing the home when Jordan arrived," Dooley said.

The men tried to overpower the resident, she explained, but he was armed.....
