Titles and locked threads

Is it just me, every so often I will start a thread that I thought was unique having done a search regarding the subject, only to have it locked and be told there was already a thread for it.
Often when I see the original thread the title is something very ambiguous and doesn't seem to relate to the content. I try to make my titles descriptive, do others try to entice viewers by using titles that make you have to open it and read it to see what it is really about?

Or is it just me?

A lot of times people make shitty thread titles which making searching for an existing article nearly impossible.
