Time to ban knives! 5 people killed in Brooklyn

I wonder what his immigration status is?

Under interrogation by detectives, conducted in Mandarin, he told of his disillusionment with life since coming to the United States in 2004 and of his jealousy toward those who had found success here. The police listed him as unemployed.

Again. Help is minutes away when seconds count. Not all circumstances are the same but more often than not it is true. Sad when innocent kids are the victims of incidents like this. The perp should go straight to a room with the victims relatives and friends waiting.

I just emailed the writer of the story with this. "Hi David. A very sad story indeed. Horrible does not begin to describe it. A possible follow up article could investigate why people are not calling for (and the media does not mention) a ban on knives as they do when a firearm is used in an unspeakable crime. Both are inanimate objects yet when a firearm is used to unleash evil, it ignites a "call to arms" (for lack of a better phrase) for people to push for stricter gun laws. Evil people have, and always will, continue to find evil ways to do evil things. Stricter gun laws are not the answer. Your thoughts? Sincerely, A1850

It would be nice to have him do a follow up and address the OP's point?

And SUVs:

BEIJING — A vehicle plowed through dozens of pedestrians and policemen near Tiananmen Square at lunchtime Monday, then crashed in front of Tiananmen Gate and burst into flame.

Five people were believed dead — the driver, two passengers, a female tourist from the Philippines and a male tourist from South China's Guangdong province — and 38 people were injured, reported Qianlong.com, a Beijing government news website. Authorities cleared Tiananmen Square, home to Mao's tomb, after the crash.

Give them all meat cleavers so he can feel what his victims felt.

Sadly, it will go to trial (costing many thousands of dollars), he will be getting 3 square meals a day, with free room and board during that part. Then he might spent the rest of his life in prison (IF convicted) costing the tax payers how ever much money. With any luck, though, the other inmates will deal out justice to the bastard. Maybe it won't even go to trial due to him being 'handled' while waiting.

You'll just be another lunatic redneck [thinking]

You're also applying logic to liberal thinking, it will never work or make sense.

We definitely need some common sense knife legislation

We definitely need some common sense knife legislation

How the liberals will probably draft the legislation (for MA, CT, NY, NJ, and CA)...
All knives (even/especially kitchen knives) will need to be registered, with serial numbers.
No knife over 1/2" allowed for anyone under 21.
Any knife over 3" long will require a special license, to be issued by the state (3-12 months after applying), good for two years and costing no less than $200.
For the high capacity edge item, applicant will need to be finger-printed, photographed, rectal-mapped and anything else the CoP decides to use for identification purposes.
In order to apply for the special license, a class of no less than 160 hours in length will be required (details to be determined later)...
All high capacity edge items will need to be locked up when not in the direct control of licensed owner. Violation will be a class A felony.

Feel free to expand on this. [rofl2]

Perhaps you folks don't realize that carrying a knife in NYC (unsure if all the boroughs are included) is already illegal and has been for years.

"A team from West Middlesex University Hospital said violent crime is on the increase - and kitchen knives are used in as many as half of all stabbings.

They argued many assaults are committed impulsively, prompted by alcohol and drugs, and a kitchen knife often makes an all too available weapon.

The research is published in the British Medical Journal.

The researchers said there was no reason for long pointed knives to be publicly available at all.

They consulted 10 top chefs from around the UK, and found such knives have little practical value in the kitchen.

None of the chefs felt such knives were essential, since the point of a short blade was just as useful when a sharp end was needed. "
